I retouched Joobn's photo. You might not notice a huge change, but I think if you look at them side by side, you'll be pleased.

Cladding started at the beginning of the week, several weeks ahead of schedule! Check back a few pages for photos.

I only realised today how massive this building is.

Was walking along the promenade in Hong Kong, saw IFC looming up like a monster. . .

. . . then I realised the Burj is going to be twice that.

Aside from the 'shifts' thing that others have suggested, there's also the fact that the Burj Dubai is very thin as it tapers towards the top, unlike many other skyscrapers being built today, so one floor can be built in no time.

How come they have such a hurry? Usually they don't build buildings 24/7. Sure they want to finish it fast but anyway.

And does anyone know when the BD will reach its final hight?

1. at Burj Dubai they use a very fast construction method

2. no, nobody kow's when it'll top out. that arrives on the final height

Because as with every project in Dubai they quoted a rediculous, over ambitious completion date and lateness will piss off investors in this tower.

the lower floors are surprisingly much cheaper....when did 59 floors become a low floor? In most cities it would be the top of the world.
