I get Dubai property updates every day from this website by email, if you sign up and register you get all the inside gossip and they go into more detail about the apartments in a daily e-brochure.

Although there are some related items here and here

120 floors out of 200 floors? Someone said on the UK forums that it was on 126 floors so it seems very possible if they're keeping it to approximates and not specifics on the updates.

yes, with 120/200 they mean "the 120th floor of altogether 200".

Burj Dubai to be enveloped with curtain wall glass panel

19-May-2007

L-R: Essa Al Ghurair, Director, Al Ghurair Investment and Ahmad Al Matrooshi, Managing Director, UAE, Emaar Properties pictured with other executives at the installation ceremony of the curtain wall glass panels on Level 19 of the Burj Dubai

Burj Dubai, set to become the world’s tallest tower and developed by Emmar Properties, world’s largest real estate developer with headquarters in Dubai, is taking its final shimmering form as installation of curtain wall glass panels commenced on Level 19 of the super-structure. The first batch of cladding comprises 25 panels specially fabricated using advanced engineering techniques and air-freighted to Dubai. Made of high-performance materials, the curtain wall will enhance the building’s distinctive appearance and seal the interior from the external heat, wind, moisture, and noise.

Greg Sang, Assistant Director, Projects, Emaar Properties, said, “The structure of Burj Dubai is progressing on schedule and, now, with the start of the curtain wall installation, the finishing works will proceed at full speed. With the tower’s façade being put in place the elegant shape and form as envisaged in the architectural design will become reality. The contractors have put in place an accelerated programme to fabricate and install the panels, which will enable the on-schedule completion of the tower”.

Burj Dubai, located at the heart of Downtown Burj Dubai, is Dh73 billion mixed-use real estate project featuring residential apartments, commercial space, hospitality projects and several retail outlets including The Dubai Mall, one of the world’s largest shopping and entertainment destinations. The tower is presently 125-storeys tall and is one of the five tallest structures in the world.

don't think so. concrete can withstand much higher temperatures as Steel ( the reason why the WTC collapsed ). and after the 11th september 2001 the safety regulations were intensified. so i think it can withstand a fire like in 2001. hopefully it must never prove it!

If it is not safe, they wouldn't build it in the first place. Burj Dubai is made out of concerte which can handle the fires more than steels. I believe that Burj Dubai is made out of about 90% concerte and 10% steel at top of Burj Dubai. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Yea its mainly concrete and yea concrete is 'more' fire resistant than steal. Although concrete is susceptible to concrete attack - especially in the gulf.
