May I say that this is either insane or B.S.
"A 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment has just been sold by EMAAR on floor 188 for $11,686,980 AED"

Why? Several reasons:
Floor 188 is in the office section.
We have been told that floors 140?+ are to be executive sweets, offices, or officed owned by Emaar.
We've seen plans showing floors upto 160 then complicated latticework (no occupiable floor) above this.
188 is 28 floors above the top of the previously annoucned concrete core.
Maybe the plans have changed. But it could easily be a missprint and the floor is really floor 118 or something.
We can see them working on the last setback of the core on floors as low as 115. For there to be room for a 2bed apt (+ stairwells/lifts) they'd need to not have anymore setbacks for 68 floors (other than the other 2 sides) which will mess up the flow of the building.
If this is true then they've had a major redesign. Take this announcement with a pinch of salt imho...

ps. that reminds me ;-) fantastic pics Imre! Like the bear too - brought a smile to my face... is that last pic a photoshop - how many bears are there - do you manufacture them ;-)

The Teddys are his children

I agree about 188 being a missprint or perhaps even something more sinister...

The facade looks great. However, at this rate, the facade will never catch.

My 2 cents; I care not about the exact height of the building. I think the designs look great, probably my all-time favorite. I think, and hope, regardless, that this will be one sweet structure.

There was a article on the ski slope on Discovery - when they need to they get 100s of people on one project and complete it in a day - eg. there was like hundreds of sq. metres of block paving - all done in a day.
That explains y buildings go up faster in non western countries.

No strong unions, labour is much cheaper and nobody cares much about human rights coz pple need to feed themselves lst.

where did u get 452m below tier11 roof? we are currently 460m or 4 floors above tier11.
I got it from your May 16th post shown below bro.

you can add a couple more floors and 15m if you want figure from base.
I think the photo I used has the 126th floor at the top mark.

Anyways - not a big diff - but overall accounting for a few innacuracies - I'm going with 850m.
They can always get exotic with materials choice in the last 100 meters and get another 25 or 30 meters. I mean titanium and carbon fiber composite like they use for wingboxes on airliners.

I think it will be black when sky is dark or greyish, and blue when sky is... blue. It seems to have good reflecting qualities

Yes - highly reflective and georgous glass.
Will look different depending on sky light conditions and angle of view.
From plane will reflect the ground. From ground will reflect sky.
And the curved design gives diff angles for each glass panel.
It's a briallaincy and bound to be an architectural beauty on a par with the Taj Mahal which leans on changing light conditions for its never ending appeal. It's no accident they both have artificial lakes near the base.

i have seen some possibility to be 707 meters tall, but as someone made proportions, it should be 800 meters. Lower than this should be frustating for me

Woolie. Emaar said that the first couple off weeks would be going slow but they speed up dramaticaly after the glas panel crew got the pace and techniques off how to place them in order. You will see the glas zoom up in no time
