Why are we talking about unbuildable vision/fantasy projects in the BD thread?

That is one ugly building...I mean thing. There is no way in hell that will be built because it's completely unrealistic. The ammount of materials it would need just cannot be met and it would take 100 years to build. The person who designed it should be shot.

A good solid horsewhipping before the shooting.
And all this happening out behind the barn is appropriate.
And have all designers emailed with details as an example of what not to do.

Out of Curiousity, Is it expected to be for residential/Hotel Usage from Tier 12 onwards? The floor area looks kinda small. It seems like every level from Tier 12 onwards would be an Apartment? Issit so? Or something else?

I've been hearing that it's executive offices. You might look back in the thread a few pages.

330 pixels x 1.066 = 352m
452m + 352m = 804m = damn close I'd say

See below............

They can go higher with aircraft composite materials in the spire.
Maybe 30 more meters.
I bet they will do that.

I thought i heard that the observation area was going to be 2 levels as well, but some diagrams show 1 level. Who knows?
Like Culwalla says - it's confusing but we'll try to keep em honest lol.

By the way - in the diagram at the far left it shows tier 10 at level 122 - that's a mistake (typo) it's 112. Like I said - keep em honest lol.
excellent, were on track.
well done

there actually not that small. yes tier12 or 507m height is the last of the large floors but its still quite a size.
heres a compariosn diagram i did to show size to sears tower.
its lev124. a funny sort of tianguilar shape 33mx 33m.
as it goes up it gets chopped into 1/3rds.

You actually forgot to draw a wing which goes to tier 12(the highest one, which ends up somwhere around 500m). So its still very big at L124, but the floors above the L124 are as big as you draw. I did a quick correction in Paint

I can understand them saying 59/200 as they don't know how many floors the Burj will have. Like us they've seen the pic with "floor 189" on the render. They could say 59/50000000 for all it matters.
Floor 59 must be one of the lowest residential floors as the first 40/50 are the hotel.
Whats strange is if there's some link saying they've sold some apartment on floor 188 as somebody said (for the reasons I mentioned before)

not to start a flamewar but that's rediculous:
if you go YYYY-MM-DD (especially for photos, any type of file) then they will list in date order on your hdd / operating system.
It also means it escelates by digit properly, ie. people don't write 12.30pm and 10 seconds as: 30:12:10 do they!!!
If you do mm-dd-yyyy then you'll get all the June's together - ****ing crazy!
cough - my 2 cents!

For filing purposes, obviously yyyy-mm-dd makes the most sense, but when you're speaking out loud (at least in American English), you say "May 22, 2007," and I think it makes the most sense to write it out that way.

*cough* Just my two cents.

The hotel is the bottom 37 or so levels only.
At Tier 12 and up to level 162 it's very exclusive offices and some private floors.

Here is a shot of the core at level 114 with workers for size reference.
Thanks to Altin D for the great shot.

Looks like plenty of room for whatever they want to put there in just the core alone. And at level 139 ( tier 12 ), that you mention, there will still be some small extentions out from the core making even more floor space than we see here.

Hey Graham, Do you have that same pic with the guys but zoomed out just so we can see how high up they are ?....I'd need about 20 safety straps on....there's no way.

I read this thread everyday and i really look forward to seeing the new pics and progress, thanks to all the regular contributors.

PS...why would you want a "Eye in the sky" tower in Oakland?....have you seen Oakland?.....eesh.

Uhhhh......Oakland may not be the most beautiful downtown area there is, but it is the central point of the entire Bay Area which is one of the most beautiful metro areas in the world.

Anyway....back to Burj.
