Erg... I still can't see any of Imre's photos. I think the way he's tagging them isn't allowing me to see them, because sometimes I can find the URLs in the page source code, and those seem to work.

That or my firewall is jacked up.

Great pictures!

I wonder how much glass panels will be installed to cladding on Burj Dubai per day? Few panels a day?

So far it's only been a few a day. Hopefully in the next week or so they'll start moving a lot faster. They'll have to, if they want to finish before 2015.

no bozo. the owner pressured and bribed for an additional floor to be added without the needed structural strengthening below.
Bribes + corruption. This is what happened. End of discussion.

I think that the roof of the highest occupied floor will end up being the old 705 meter figure that was being thrown around for a while...

^the 705m height is the original height of SPIRE! with roof at 620m.
The highest occupied floor with 808m design is tier19 or 643m.or floor 162.
This will be the 9th steel floor above concrete termination at lev156.(includes 3 mezzanines)
There seems to be 15 more floors or landings above this which totals approx 180 floors to tier 24/739m level.

Yeah, that's my point. It's supposed to be finished by either Dec. 30th, 2008 or Jan. 30th, 2009. If they continue the cladding at this rate, they'll never get it done. I'm confident they're going to move it along soon enough.

There were 25 panels in the first batch. Right now there are 23 panels installed, and it has been that way for a day or two. It may be that 2 of the 25 were defective or broke. We should have a new (I think much larger) batch arriving shortly.

@ Culwulla. I love your diagrams man - very nice. They cannot be taken as a source of any level number changes though. You may be correct in what you interpret from the pics and info, but I would ask for your source on the level number changes from the original elevation diagram, not just your interpretation.

I agree that the original diagram is the old 705 meter version. It still looks to me that they are following it to level 126. That diagram shows 3 double levels to get to 114 as the level just above the first narrowing side of the core. Perhaps level 108-109, level 110-111, and level 112-113. Then 12 levels and 126 is the second side of the core to narrow. This follows the original diagram exactly. I see the levels are taller and am aware of the observation deck in the low 120's now as the current info suggests.

Not trying to argue - it is just how I see what is happening. It will be very interesting to see some markers or painted numbers up this high to see who is correct. We will have to wait and see.

As for the height guess thing - I want it to be as high as possible and really like the fact they are going to spiral the setbacks all the way up now ( unlike the 705 renders ). The spire jacking plan is also very cool.
Love this thing - so much more interesting than any skyscraper before it !

Hi Fury,

You asked for the source - so you got it Toyota.

This is the diagram that the actual building has been following exactly and it has the floor numbers that I and Culwalla agree on are indictaed.

and from that I did this composite diagram to show the conformity between the diagram and the building and to help guess the final height.

From that composite one can see floor 112 just above the 4th mech level (the bottom level of tier 10). Now count up from the bottom level of tier 9 is 99th and you see it jives on the photo and the diagram.

The only thing that still needs to be understood is why the larger openings at 121 122, 123 and 124 AND where is the observation level because it looks like the openings get smaller again starting at 125 or so.
This diagram does not show ob level.

I think we are seeing some deviation from any diagram we've seen yet starting at about floor 121. Maybe observation is now 4 levels as a way to add height .
So this is exciting speculation.
They look like 5 meter floors so 3 extra x 5 = 15m added so far.
Who knows?

When we see where the 4th setback of the medium height wing ends we will get a clue. It say 124 on the diagram but i suspect another deviation from the diagram.

after the math was said and done we got 804.

But that's not taking into account a possible 3 or 4 level OB deck and some spire stretching with composite materials so I guessed final at 835m.

window openings

Just noticed some strange things about the openings on the recently cast levels. 119 - 126
They slowly get bigger, then top out for 2 floors and then go back to what they were before.
The diagram shows pixels for the vertical dimension of the opening.
My guess is that OB deck is two levels on 123 and 124.
This seems to be supported by the extra thick floors seen just to the left under the yellow forms for those levels.
They would need thicker floors than would be needed for apartments below.
I don't know why 121 and 122 have a somewhat bigger opening size though.
It's supposed to be offices above the OB deck but this has the same floor height as the apartment levels at 119 and 120??
We need answers -

Oh - thanks to Imre for great shots and timely updates. Good stuff.

^since we have had new plans posted with 818m height ive altered top of my diagram.
I also remember reading how the CONCRETE will be eventually pumped up to over 600m. I always thought, hmm, i thought it was lev156/586m?
but after scrutinizing 818m plans, it looks like the concrete shell will now go to lev160 or 605m./tier17. makes sense. It shows the LMR also.
There is another 12 or so floor/platforms above this to reach tier22 or 701m high! 173floors? the plans indicate "highest occupied floor).
then steel spire. im not sure what the deal is with the top 6 or so tiers? its the spire which isnt tiered.
but the 1.8m dia spire has cloudy area on plan which sometimes indicates it isnt resolved yet. (not sure if crane for steel section is moved up also?)

anyway heres my latest diagram
