Im not sure how high the concrete is planned to go.
The diagrams are pretty ambiguous.
One thing for sure we'll be watching to see.
I think we are about to find out very soon that there is no diagram out that matches what they are doing.
Meanwhile heres a great render from the big pps file that went around a while back...
well - not a render but a photo of a model and a damn good shot it is to get all that in focus - the guy must be a genius!

You could put a toilet there. And it could be a super nice one too. If the swaying made you sick while you used it you could also fit a sink up there too.

I also remember reading how the CONCRETE will be eventually pumped up to over 600m. I always thought, hmm, i thought it was lev156/586m?
but after scrutinizing 818m plans, it looks like the concrete shell will now go to lev160 or 605m./tier17. makes sense. It shows the LMR also.
There is another 12 or so floor/platforms above this to reach tier22 or 701m high! 173floors? the plans indicate "highest occupied floor).
then steel spire. im not sure what the deal is with the top 6 or so tiers? its the spire which isnt tiered.
but the 1.8m dia spire has cloudy area on plan which sometimes indicates it isnt resolved yet. (not sure if crane for steel section is moved up also?)

anyway heres my latest diagram

im going on what we know with current structure and 808m plans and 818m plans/elevations.
ive just asked an engineer here at my work and he thinks looking at elevation that concrete stops at tier17 or 605m level.
you can see how the frame is thick compared to above.
this is also shows the Lift motor Room on 161. all makes sense.
im going with this until i get something else.lol

The top habitable floor will no doubt be some sort of boutique office area.
I think at this level most of the floor is taken up with structural steel latice work but look to be an area at the side where it's clear space beside the window.
I'd guesstimate about 30 feet x 20 feet = 600sq feet = 60 sq meters.
Not bad for an office. Room for fridge, bar, bed, tv, telescope, pool table and oh ya - desk, computer and gravol dispenser.
Might get some wonky shots on the pool table when sway sets in!!
OMG - maybe not a bar. ssshhh

^ i scaled of latest plan and the highest floor is about 9m wide.
so if its a circlular shape, max is 80sqm? about size of a 2bedroom flat.

Looks like 500 sq feet - 50 sq meters.
Size of a very large living room.
Looks like they could put another one on the other side where the crane is too but only up to level 166.
I suppose they could do something at about level 183 with staircase access in case the chicago spire starts to get ideas about roof height records.
Level 183 looks like about maybe 200 sq feet - 20 sq meters.
Size of a large bedroom. Only one per level here.
I bet it would sell still.

They really have to, Burj Dubai has to hold all records, even the highest roof

Well looks like the Chicago spire is designed for a 615m roof.
So they may easily decide to add another 5% if all goes well.
So that's 645m.

And we have this level 174 at burj around 672m.
So that's only a 26 meter margin over Chitown. Scary
But at 183 level that's a 62 meter margin.

By the way - the drill bit in Chicago looks ridiculous in that setting.
What's the idea on a building like that with those dainty little mounting feet at the bottom and it's balanced on a beach ball - pffff.
Chicago needs something different IMHO

The Chicago Spire doesn't really have any chance of taking the highest roof record. They won't have an occupied floor above 600 meters, if that.

It would not be the least bit easy to add above the 2000 foot mark in Chicago. It would involve convincing the FAA that it is completely necessary, and the FAA doesn't give a crap about breaking records, and in general doesn't really like tall buildings.

graham, that pic with crane is probably superseded now. the floor you pointing at is lev168. but all has changed now with the highest concrete floor.
In that pic its 156fl but now looks like 160fl.

I'm confused. With the current predictions, there will be habitable floors in the steel structure. How is that possible?

Exactly and there really should be no discussion of the Chicago Spire having any chance of beating Burj Dubai at anything. I still think Chicago Spire looks rather hokey. I like to see the real thing but those cheesy, poorly proportioned renderings make it look like it needs to be built in Vegas or Disneyland.

it would only be 168 if the concrete stops at 156.
But I thought you just revised your concrete estimate much farther up.
I have the concrete going to at least 162 level.
