I don't know the rates for each tier, but I know the whole building has a floor efficiency value of 94.6%......which I believe is one of the best in world!

looking at latest 818m plans. the spire could easily go to 850m or higher. in the end its only a spire.
As for rumours quoting 200 floors. When Sydney tower was being built in sydney in 1977, it was quoted as being "as high as a 100storey building". which is true. Its 305m could equate to 3m floors, thus 100 floors.
200 floors at 4m per floor which is basically what Burj Dubai is 800m.
So Burj Dubai will be "as high as a 200storey building".
i dont think it will have more then 160 "official" storeys + a dozen or so more plant/communications ect. not that i know ;-)

Unimix sets record for concrete pumping

The concrete in the Burj Dubai structure is said to be the best and close to perfect consolidation.

Dubai: Readymix concrete maker Unimix has made history by setting a world record for the highest single-stage pumping of concrete on May 13, the company said in an e-mailed statement yesterday.

"The previous record of 448 metres set at the 508-metre-high Taipei 101 building in Taiwan was surpassed by Unimix when Grade 80 MPa HPC was pumped vertically to a height of 452 metres at level 126 of the Burj Dubai," the statement said.

A significant aspect in the Burj Dubai pumping operation is that a very low water-cement ratio, high-strength concrete mix was pumped single-stage to this new record height.

Low water-cement ratio mixes are the most difficult to pump.

"As for Unimix, this is a record-breaking feat for Putzmeister as well, as the pumping operation was successfully accomplished with the help of the super high pressure Putzmeister BSA-14000 SHPD pumps," it said.

"To date, Unimix has supplied more than 305,000 cubic metres of high-performance concrete (HPC) mixes for the Burj Dubai project.

Preferred choice

HPC mixes are the preferred choice of clients since they provide both very good flow characteristics and high strength, thus making it highly beneficial for easy consolidation.

"The concrete in the Burj Dubai structure can easily be claimed to have the best and close to perfect consolidation and finish, thanks to the excellent placement methods employed by the main contractor, Samsung-Besix-Arabtec JV."

The Burj Dubai has reached a height of 452 metres. The final height of the tower remains a closely guarded secret.

However, it will be the world's tallest tower upon completion at the end of 2008.

yes, the 818m elevations show the highest occupied floor at tier22/701m high.
and my questimate is floor 173 is at 701m.
going on the 808m plans.
each floor above 161 are approx 6m high.(12x6m).
if they were 3m each thats another 24floors or 185floors.

Dubai people, any updates on the cladding?

Also, Imre or any of the other folks who go to the site often, have you asked any of the workers about the cladding? At least some of them must know about it. I'm so anxious to know when it's gonna start moving faster.

So they ARE gonna pump concrete that high?

They'll need a secondary pumping station higher up the tower to get concrete to the higher floors. But yes they will be pumping it all the way up there.

Probably lift it up and mix it there. It'll only be a little bit, as the main structure isn't concrete.

Edit:
Whoo! 100 posts! I feel like I should've contributed something more than "probably lift it..." but whatever.

Adrian Smith fan - you need to get over to the height pool thread and fix your slot. Slots are getting taken fast and furious. Do 808.5 maybe or 809

Nothing has to be anything with this tower. It is important to keep that in mind. Remember all we have now is hearsay and conjecture. We can talk about probabilities, we can talk about where most of the evidence points, but we can't talk in absolutes until if or when Emaar releases a press release saying "it will be this tall". As we stand now, any of us can go put our guesses up on Wikipedia, and the next thing we know some idiot journalist uses Wiki as a source and we say "look this news article backs up what I guessed, so it must be true".

I'm not worried about the details of the height too much, they'll build it as tall as they will, nothing we can do about it but wait and see how it ends up.

Unless someone knows the people building this, and knows the real height.

Wow, you've changed your songsheet more than the whole of the Bush administration!
Only last week you were ADAMENT it was 808m and nothing else, shunning anyone who dared say otherwise.......what little respect I had for you sticking to your guns regardless (an admirable trait.....foolhardy...but admirable) I've now lost, due to you now coming out with this crap!

I take it our fickle bet is now off then?
