Nobody knows for sure how high the highest occupied floor will be. There is nothing official. There are estimates flying around for 700m but with over 200 floors it could be higher. With less than 175 floors it could be lower.

This statistic is a wait and see.

I prefer to base the thought of how high it's going to be on the plans I found and posted the link to here. As in it's going to be about 808 metres. They might just make the pinnacle / aerial bit at the top a couple of metres taller to say the 808m speculation was rubbish.
With less than 175 floors its not going to be less than 700m.
It seems scheduled for 160 floors (with maybe a few more squeezed into the steel) at 808m. They couldnt fit 175floors in 700 metres and keep the tapered design... they'd have to do an almost flat roof to do that!

Would be intersting to know which of the people who are talking pages and pages about the Burj Dubai will ever see this building in reality.

That's the nice thing about the Internet: trillions and trillions of bytes of information, without having to leave your comfortable home...

Yesterday, i spoke with an officer of besix, the foundation is capable bearing a structure of over 900 meters and they will definitly increase the current design height of the structure if the competition is proposing structures to go over it.

I have a question, is the first topic until this one about this building still available? I tried to search the archives but there is only part 26 the earliest i can find. SO are all the topics still available, and if so could you give a link?
Thanks in advance.

Hey skytower. What about it? Where is your bid in the height pool?
Slots are getting grabbed up. Won't you put a bid in soon??
Are you going to wait to see where the medium setback wing stops?
You sly devil you!
Cheers!

This is what I havce been saying all along.. I really think that Emaar will do whatever they need to do to develop this building so at least some of the top levels can be used.

The top still isnt quite as small as everyone thinks. I think that at around floor 170+ that there is still around 3000 sq feet. maybe about 750-1000 sq ft will be taken up by the core, elevator shafts, bathrooms stairwells, etc... 2 high speed passenger lifts, 1 freight lift, and 2 stairwells could probably be included in these floors still. They could easily continue building levels up in the spire as well. Just because we see lattice work on the diagram, that doesnt mean that there will be any for sure.. We do know that the glass windows will be covering the base of the spire so it will look like a flow of windows to almost the top.

Think of the mast in the ESB at the 102nd floor..
I really dont think that the Burj will be any smaller at the top than the ESB with its mast. How many elevators are in the mast at the ESB? I heard there were 2 of them and a stairwell. I also heard that what is thought to be simple stair landings, are actually small floors in the mast with communication equipment. The next lowest level for the TV and radio station equipment is at the 85th floor.

The diagram is still a guess (and a good guess that is), and I have the feeling that Emaar has been watching the forums in these websites and the laughing at us. I think they will continue building habitable floors until it gets to around 1000 sq ft.

I think that they may start altering the top more, by stretching some of the lower tiers so that they will end up being built higher up, thus creating more floor space above. This building is going to be over 800m tall, why not create it so the floors go as high as possible?? Thats why I think this could end up near 200 floors, (over 200 with mechanical floors) by using the old figure for the height of the top of 705m. They will probably pump concrete up higher than we originally anticipated like Culwulla mentioned.

I have pretty strong feelings about this building, but I think that Im still going to go with Culwulla's estimated height. You are just too good at those diagrams for your own good

Great forum for an amazing building. I saw a cool advert while in London and thought it needed to have the Burj Dubai added. The dimensions are not perfect due to the perspective of the other buildings. Anyway I hope you all like it...

Does anybody have any information about the pinnacle section?
All I know so far is that it will be about 1.8m diameter, which makes sense because there will need to be a ladder inside it for human access to the tip for aircraft warning light and probably a weather camera. Like on the CN tower, it would likely have a clear plastic bubble at the very tip for the camera to see out and still be protected. So if you climbed up you could put your head there like being in a space suit.

Anywho, What about the materials for the pinnacle. Is it steel? aluminum?
something else? Will it be pre- built and put into place with a Sikorsky helicopter like they did with the top portion of the CN tower?

There is such little info about it - anybody got anything?

Not so soon for Al Burj , and we don't know for sure how high it will go.
A bird in the hand is worth 2.5 in the bush.

I found a pic showing "spoilers" for the design of the Burj Dubai pinnacle....
Plus I think it is designed to be made of steel.
They could choose to use a stronger lighter material and go higher.
