Okay, all of this is very confusing...

Honestly, I have no idea what significance the tiers have, other than visually. Do the setbacks help is narrow down the final height? If someone can, could you put all of this tier analysis stuff into layman's terms?

Thanks.

The cladding panels on the top corner seem to be the same ones that were hanging there for months.

Hi all.

Thanx Culwulla, Graham, and Skytower for your kind words about my tier analysis. I make a new one when i see major changes and with others' thoughts on the subject. I think you hit the nail on the head Skytower. The "notches" that Hollie Maea is refering to are on the side of the core not yet narrowed. Level 138, the last level of tier 11 should be the end of the notches. I hope they will deviate from my current analysis and I will have to make a new one - would be the 4th. The spire jacking stage will be very cool also.

Mr Alloy - not sure how to put things more clearly. This structure is by far the most interesting and complicated ever built.

Let me say also that I like the fact that there is no cladding yet. Although I think this thing will look bitchin' cladded we get a good view of the structure. We will get to look at the cladding for many years after it is on.

Thanx to Imre, AltinD, and Omaro for their excellent updates - Hats off to you. Omaro,s are in the UAE section / Random SZR - 9 BD shots there. 69 new shots from just here today - wonderfull.

Have a good day all.

Best I can figure is in pics below.
Thanks to Hollie for noticing the new notch.
The medium height setback height seems as planned. No surprises.
Next check for high height setback notch.
If no surprise there...

Then we wait for concrete to stop pouring.
This may be the surprise we're waiting for.

Fascinating!

And Imre and Altin D - your shots are golden and what keeps us going. Thanks a million!

Hi Graham. I could be wrong but I thought Hollie was referring to the notches in the floorslabs.

The last level to have these noches on this 3rd and last side of the core is level 138.

Wow. 126+ levels...

What height has the building reached in the mean time (in metres, that is)?

@ Fury,

I'm pretty sure Hollie meant the blue portion I marked here on your pic.

When a wing reaches up to the point where there is just "winglets" being constructed, as we see on the short height setback wing from 112 and up,
then there's this notch that is made so the winglets can flow nicely into the corner sections and also acting as a thinning device. It's beautiful design.

The sections your pointers go to at the right of the pic will dissapear around L139 when that high wing will be thinned for "winglets".

Until now we only saw it happen on the short wing (the left pointers on the pic).
But now, Hollie noticed the notch happen for the medium wing and it's an indicator that the wing extension will stop at the notch there at the observation deck will be.

We should see it again for the high side around 139. If we don't see the notch when we expect to, then it's an indicator it's been redesigned to go higher that we all want to see.
OR - see it sooner, and it's going lower - bummer.

It's a very complicated design. But it's so very logical and ordered and beautiful. The very first time I saw the render, I thought it looked like a waterfall pouring out of the heavens!! I love this building.

Don't feel like reading all the "technical" stuff, but what does all that stuff about "notches" ultimately mean? That the tiers are higher than we originally thought?

Hi Graham.
Nice to see we are on the same page. We are talking about the same end result by refering to different "notches". It will be interesting indeed to see if tier 11 ends at 138.

MetalliTool - The discussion is about the changes from the original 705 meter plan to the new 818. Also whether there will be more changes for even higher.

Hmmm I guess my post count will remain at 71 forever - Darn - and I wanted to pass Culwulla - lol

In laymans terms, we're right on track so far and the 808m plans has yet to be deviated from!

There's been some really strange things going on with the post counts here.......I was up to 270 something about 5 months ago......then for some reason it went to 26.
Then it got above 80, then one day it went back to 9!

When we launched AAS, my post count resorted back to zero every time I logged off......that went on for 2 months.....then all by itself.....it started counting again!

Go figure?

So do you people think they indeed ARE the same panels that were there before? Also, why are the panels that are hugging the corner bigger than the other ones? Is that part of the design?

Damn good question there eagle eyes.
I dunno. seems weird.
Maybe they are still testing how it looks and still trying to decide on the final desgn.
June was mentioned as the start of installation. So it makes some sense.

I like the smaller panels myself.
They make the curve smoother and that'll reflect the light nicer.
