I think its level 130 - 3levels still in the core formwork. So if its 469m, only 40m to overcome the Taipei 101 Thats 10 levels, but it will take some time, because it will reach 5th mechanical floors at L136 or L137. Those mechanical floors are higher so at top of mech floors it will surpass the Taipei 101. I am afraid that it will take 2 or 2,5 months to get there. I am already waiting...

There were only pictures of the lower levels of 2 out of 3 sides. Last we saw, they were putting up glass on the unseen side, so we don't know if there was no progress or not. I don't believe the story that they are waiting for more glass because we have already seen more than 25 pieces which was the number in the first batch, so presumably the second batch has arrived. Probably if we saw a picture of the third side we would see some progress.

That's high tech glass the likes of which has never been manufactured before. It's going to take a while.
It's very compex and expensive science to make that stuff well.
That's what bankrupt Schmidlen.

Here is a photo that I massaged so we can see inside the core somewhat.
Look how thick those walls are!!! Amazing.
Thanks to Imre for this photo.

Like everyone else I really appreciate Imre taking the time and effort posting the pics. We are watching history in the making and i look forward to visiting this site everyday to see the progress.

Now a silly question..............if the OB deck has an outside area (the roof on top of a wing) wouldn't it be too windy to stand out there ? I dont know if it will have an outside area but just curious.

Also, can you imagine your walking in your appt and you slip and fall against the glass ?....Instant bowel flushing moment

I was once on the stratosphere in Las vegas looking out the window...just peering over the edge and some little brat ran by and pushed me onto the glass.....If i could have got a sound out I would have screamed like a little schoolgirl....lets just say that that moment was the scariest of my life

Wikiboo the glass has sheets off plastic to strengthening it to a point where the glass doesnt brake and iff it does that it stays on its place holded back by the plastic sheets.

The OB is protected for winds and suicidal people by a big curtain off glass where you still see the surroundings and dont feel the wind.

Hoped to awnserd your questions and have a nice day
Cheers

Latest news is that the OB deck will be on 2 levels.
At L123 and L124.
This makes full use of the double decker elevators so it can load and unload on 2 levels at the same time.
Also L124 allows an outside viewing area on the roof of the medium setback wing that stops on L123.
This matches up with the present floor heights at those two levels which are the same size and both much larger than the neighbouring floors.
If there'll be a premium OB deck way up around L160 remains to be seen.
Since this would create extra elevator traffic in the exclusive high price office areas, I doubt it. It might be considered as an add-in feature much later, when it's determined the elevator system is not overloaded on the office levels.

More new info that says L123 will serve as a lobby/reception area for office visitors.
This provides security for the offices. Office visitors would then use the next set of elevators which runs up from L123, probably single decker units.
So L123 will probably have waiting areas with lookout windows too, so it could be considered an OB deck of sorts.
At the ground, office visitors will get on the bottom deck and OB deck visitors will get on the top deck of the 2 deck elevators. With a single non-stop trip from G floor to L123/L124.

It kinda sucks that the observation deck will be that "low" but then I remind myself that in less than 15 seconds after take off you're already higher than the top of Burj Dubai. Still there's something about being able to walk around that high and savor the view. I'd love to bee on the top floor of Burj Dubai during a severe thunderstorm, that would be cool.

Does anyone know how wide the base on BD is? I guess from the tip of one wing to the tip of another. Thanks!

I agree FM, there is something both exciting and scary walking about inside a building that high. Why is it that when im in a plane that high im not scared but if i was on a building like the BD at that height i'd be knocking knee's.

what an achievement for mankind.

I have the figure of 90 meters in my head - but don't quote me!

I looked on Google Earth, and it looked to be 85-90 meters, so you're probably right.

Hi all.

Check this. 92 meters from center to tip of podium level 1. So in tier 0 ( level 7 to 18 ) looks around 90 from tip to tip.

Note that this drawing incorrectly shows podium 3 as grey. Podium 3 is levels 5 and 6.
