The land was then sold off to the National Bank of Kuwait, who have taken it over and are now planning to develop it as their official new headquarters instead of their small nine-story building near the Stock Exchange.

The building is on the corner of Al-Shuhada Street and Jaber Al-Mubarak Street, directly in between the Arraya Centre and the Al-Hamra Tower.

There. Any more questions?

I have a couple of questions!

-If it is true this is the new design of the NBK's HQ, what do you think of the design-- do you like it or not?
-Do you think it will fit good to the city's skyline?

Haha, questions acknowledged.

1. I find the design futuristic. To me, it looks like the Al-Hamra Tower and the United Tower had a baby, with the more defined curves of this building echoing the United Tower. I hope that this tower doesn't bulge too far out on the back wall [otherwise it'll look bloated or pregnant] and I'm not too fond of how the tower and the podium interact with one another - the podium is composed of solid lines and right angles and then the curvilinear tower rises from out of it. Perhaps the interaction would look better in different renders, so I'll reserve judgment until I see further evidence.
2. I think it'll fit into the skyline quite nicely by providing an interesting contrast to the skyscraper cluster it's in. If you observe the location from left to right, you'll see the United Tower, Arraya Tower, the NBK Tower and the Al-Hamra Tower. United is curvy, Arraya a pencil-like line and Al-Hamra with a duality of facades - solid lines on one side, flared, curved walls on the other. The NBK Tower, in my opinion at least, will emphasize the curves seen in United as well as compliment the ones on the flare wall of Al-Hamra, its direct neighbor. It will also add a very avant-garde, modern touch to the skyline if beautifully illuminated.

I look forward to more renderings, but otherwise, I'm content with the design and hope to see it rising soon.

Thoughts?

Is it me or are most new/proposed skyscrapers in Kuwait somewhat identical? They're all trying to look weirder than the other. It's like children trying to compete for attention.
