I think it is a mixed-used facility.....probably a mall or like what tomkat said - a hotel cum museum. However up-close it has a themepark-like quality

I think it's appropriate to make Putrajaya a cultural showcase of Malaysia. The distance from KL would be no problem coz tourists would actually go to lentths to experinece culture. Many tourists still go to Batru Cave despite the difficulty of getting there.

museum negara-masjid negara-parlimen-stadium negara are in the same league of post-independence buildings which are a manifestation of country building identities
so..believe me, museum negara will stay there... |

OKAY...
I suggest we retain museum negara, but build another one in putrajaya, probably bigger and named it Muzium Malaysia. Or simply Putrajaya Muzium. Malaysia lacks museum culture so it doesnt hurts to build another gigantic museum. We're rich in history you know And since Muzium Negara only knows how to organise Pameran Hantu.

I believe the museum is not doing very well due to fewer and fewer visitors, hence the standard quality of exhibition is still stuck in the 70's as traveller in travelblog stated. Perhaps the current Muzium Building buildings could be used for other functions?
