If the Council House had a foundation stone laid in 1874 (or was it completed?) this photo is probably 1860s?

Yeh construction began in 1874. So yeah, you're probably right, it could well be the late 1960s. Although I seem to remember someone on here saying there was delay between the site being cleared and construction starting, although I can't find any reference of that anywhere... anyone?

I know we've had this discussion before, but Snow Hill there looks beautiful. Who designed the new one/car park? I'm going to hang him.

Going back to the Aston pics, when I was there I was told it was the largest brick built building in Europe, whether this is true or not I'm not sure as Battersea Power station is a beast too, but it is an impressive building. It's a shame it's so hemmed in though, as you don't really see the scale of it. From what I remember it's 10 or 12 floor high inside.

The car park was designed by Seymour Harris Partnership (or a name of that variation). They've been around for decades and done some highly regarded work in the city - the car park isn't one of them though...

Look how great Fort Dunlop looked in its day, I'm glad it still serving good purpose, even though it have a huge blue square stuck to the side of it now
