I'm sorry but this is MADNESS!

It looks like a 1960's Birmingham municipal leisure centre.

Sorry, don't like the design...looks like any number of mid-20th century modernist misadventures. Which is not to say bad of either Athens or the Acropolis, both of which are great...I just think they could have done better, especially at such a prominent site.

The building is sopposed to match the acropolis... and so the design is successfull.

You need to understand that the building was designed to not take away at all the glory of the Acropolis.

If it was designed flamboyantly, it would have been an attraction in itself which was not the aim.

It does take away from the Acropolis - by forcing it into proximity with something shoddy and ugly.

This is MADNESS!!!

I don't think that many municipal leisure centres in Birmingham look like this very unique museum. Athens must be proud of having a brand new landmark, world's most modern archaeological museum ( virtual reality theater included into the building)!

Mediocre design... and the surroundings look depressing.

Does the Arc de Triomphe take away all the glory of the Eiffel tower?

This argument seems quite ridiculous. And btw: Why should they create somethin like this and say "it shall be no attraction"? If they wanna have a worldwide recognized museum, they should have made somethin more appealing... Btw, besides the Acropolis, there is no building with a real global validity (or a world famous landmark at least). Athens would do better to don't repeat such crappy failures (or to build some more Olympia stadiums)

In the end it boils down to personal taste. I must say I am quite impressed with the design, the cladding looks very high quality and I expect the interiors to be magnificent.

Look at the view from the entrance, the reflection in the glass if of the Acropolis herself...just amazing.

Sure, but that's what happens when no architects are involved in decision making and design.

Without architects involved even St. Peter's Square in Rome would look like a parking lot of Walmart, with lines and numbers painted onto asphalt, to show the faithful where to stand and sing.

Just leave it to politit clowns and interest groups, and that is what you get: a disgusting money maker for investors and contractors. However, when terrorists bomb down all of Athens ...

... it will be just a pile of rubble and rusting steel, whilst the ruins and the remnants of the Acropolis still will look majestic. Because architects were involved in decision making and design.

D'oh... The concrete looks so damn awkward, buttugly, dirty and call me what. I still hate it, even more every single time I look at this miserablly.
