The excavation of Makrygianni will be visible from the new museum, outside and inside!

Can't wait to see it finished! I love the pure steel n' concrete sides, it s exciting to see a retro-futuristic design style archaeological museum! The area around the museum will be the most alive area of Athens I think! And the interior looks yummy!

This museum will be considered ugly in a decade, as it is a fad design.
Athens should have something that reflects on its past, something more classical.
It disrespects the historical structures around it greatly.

I have to disagree strongly! People seem to have a superficial view on the New Acropolis Museum. The task of the building is to provide ideal conditions for the visitors to fully concentrate on the displayed treasures and to allow the dialoque between the Akropolis and its treasures without to distract with its own weight. Neither Athens nor Tschumi wanted to create a "beauty". The New Museum isnt suppose to end in itself narcissistically. This is something Tschumi understood and he managed to create a Museum that is ahead of its time.

Everything that is new and it differs from what people are expecting is considert as ugly. Even the Eiffel Tower was to be demolished because people thought it is a monstrosity.

The Eiffel tower is more of a symbol. But styles like this have proven to die out after a decade. From glass boxes of the 1960s to the 'futurist' 1970s.
This structure will become that, an eyesore.

I am confused. Have you ever been to Athens? Here is a clue. It does not look like Barcelona, Roma, Paris ect ect. 90% of Athens is concrete 50's -70's modernist apartment blocks. I would like to know how this grade A glass and concrete museum will look dated in such a city. If anything, I think this building fits into Athens perfectly. Welcome to Athens:

^ Well, so it still has to elevate its contingent of lousy concrete structures? Sounds quite logical.

Yep, of course. Could you repeat that in English please? I don't get what u're talking about

Oh, well - since now there's no city castle in Berlin. Btw, what does this have to do with anything?
