LAMIA

I present the city of Lamia and its surrounding areas, the parts of Greece my family background is from.

Lamia is the capital of the prefecture of Phthiotis and the periphery of Central Greece (comprising 5 prefectures). It is the provincial capital of Phthiotis.

Great photos! Never ceases to amaze me just how much more there is to Greece outside of Athens and Thessaloniki.

Just to bring my obsession home though:

Can you see how much better this scene looks then some parts of Athens. Same ''polikatikies'' (mostly), but with the odd roof here and there. I truly believe that this is one reason why this scene is attractive. Would like to see a photoshop of the same pic above, sans roofs.

Cheers,

These are not commieblocks, they are just ''polikatikies''. Greece has very few commieblocks.

Nice pictures by the way! Especially the one with the snow.

Great photos!!! Glad to see Lamia. I visited this town MANY years ago and I remember I felt positive about it. More photos of Lamia wouldn't hurt Thanks.

Yeah something similar to that, more like "best man". In Italian koumpare means good friends or relatives......

I think the honors for the ugliest Greek city must go to Agrinio. In comparison Lamia looks like Paris. What amazes me about Agrinio is that its situated in a wealthy agricultural (nicotine farms) region and yet its a mess.
