Yeah Thanks for the update. I hope the project turns out good. The site seems large enough and the surroundings are clean.

Thanks for the info Zexy and others. This project will give Abuja a definitive city center. I wish they would make the tower a bit taller though; the Eiffel Tower is 300 meters.

That article says that the Pyramid Structure is connected to Seven Multi Story Buildings, it also Maintains that the Project is The Millennium Tower and Cultural Centre.

In this Render, one can see Seven Multi Story Buildings, Three of a Kind and Four of a Kind.

looks like things are starting to come along well. i was briefly past the Arts Centre in June and the concrete footings and rebar were well advanced . It looks to be a two year project that will be the pride of the city.

No another note
please take a look at the article I have in the New Glasgow News
I am having people make comments of support for the Abuja 2014 bid.
http://www.ngnews.ca/index.cfm?sid=4...bmit&#thankyou

I am trying to compile an email list of supporters so when we can make good comments on Nigeria Related stories especially with the bid we can make then with force with address from far and wide.

my e mail is paultaylor42@hotmail.com if you would like to join in

Tbite,
I suspect this picture is rather dated, probably early 2006! The construction site has since taken shape...with pillars and steel works ongoing.

Personally I didnt see pillars at the beginning of June but I did see the rebar cages in place so i would say the pour for the start of those was done mid june or since I have come home.

I was wisked past the site and really wished I could have gotten pictures.

The city should really think about having websites with project porgress pictures. Keeping these things a secret really is not that great. The more Abuja and Nigeria expose these projects the better for investors externally to become interested.

Showing that the capital city is on the move with great progress will spur greater progress.

My word, I couldnīt agree more! an efficient strategy to deconstruct stereotypes on Africa and nigeria in particular can only be done by means of aggressive continuos "guerilla-marketing" campaigns and not by keeping your lips pursed and only nodding calmly once in while just like a fluffy toy that runs on low batteries!

I don't know, I got the Photo from a April 07 Photo Set.

Well the Project, is one of the biggest going on in Abuja, yet there's no website. There is still a lot of speculation around the whole Project.

I just can't wait for it to be completed.

Not surprising. You know, the Obasanjo regime was terrible at transparency. Ironic, because he claimed to oppose institutionalized corruption. Make no mistake, a LARGE portion of this project is publically financed ($300 million) yet according to Mr. Obasanjo the Nigerian citizen doesn't deserve to know where/how/when this money is being spent! 3 vague and contradicting press releases from 2003 to 2006 is 'good enough'.

Well let's see how Umya handles things now.

well Matthias that is the main thing that is puzzling to be honest . I saw a commerical on BBC world today of nigeria and all the images where nature shots basically . I understand that Nigeria has a great mix of natural settings but until you start to show Abuja and other cities developing the stereotypes will go on .

I was actually more impressed with Abuja then London to be honest on my vacation. London reminded me of a larger version of a florida gift shop with firecrackers advertized on the roof with 25 foot high neon letters LOL.

I don't think he meant to insult London. I've been there about 3 times and always loved it - good night life and lots of culture. But sometimes smaller destinations to places that might be less important politically or economically can be more enjoyable. For instance, a number of people may prefer to travel to a smaller city/town in eastern Europe than to travel to New York City.

It wasn't an insult! But, for equity and justice to prevail there's always a need to throw a lampoo of such. Now I can truely decipher why Jim Jones has so much interest in Abuja hosting the commonwealth games. It's true to know that these games will bring development to that part of the country in particular and the nation in general. I wish Scotish would see it also from Jim Jones' perspective---it will bring to the world a fair understanding and co-operation. I my requesting for audiences here?Maybe they should be from scotland.
