It is usualy fresh, sometimes stagnent. And im sure you could drink it.

where does the water come from??? there is no snow in this region so it rain water?

It is rain water.

There is also a lot of lime stone in the area, which takes the rains a long time to perculate, meaning there is usualy at least a little water in the pools all year round
