Stop showing off the fancy ones, every city has a number of stops which consist solely of a metal sign mounted on a pole on the side of the road.

Here's an example of one:

It's a tram stop sign, but the bus stop sign is identical except they're orange, and aren't numbered.

You don't got any pics from the bus shelters - both them in the city and them along the high ways?

Over here those are just the stops where people get off the bus, towards the end of the line. Almost any stop where people get on the bus provides shelter, has seats etc. To promote public transport, passengers should not be standing in the rain and waiting. Neither should one need to 'mount' the bus:

.....here are some more pictures of the busstop in The Netherlands. It's a special bussline in The Haarlemmermeer, it goes from Amsterdam Shiphol Airport to Haarlem Train Station. And it stops 6 times in my city, Hoofddorp.

Philadelphia, PA (SEPTA)

A normal bus stop. New ones wrap around a pole or are on a sign that says the bus route and where it is going. Old ones just say the bus route. New bus stops downtown have fancy shelters.

Manchester

Couple of shots from Manchester

We are struggling to afford trams and so here's the alternative (lol)!

A tram stop

A metroshuttle bus at a central stop

A city centre bus stop. This one is colour coded because of Manchesters free metroshuttle city centre network

Shudehill Bus Station

Well in Melbourne, it hardly ever rains these days so it's not that bad.

Shelter from the sun is more important for most of the year, and the new tinted glass ones appearing everywhere do absolutely nothing to protect you from the sun. I liked the old concrete bunker shelters. Now you have to hope it's the right time of day so that the one face of the shelter with the ad provides shade or look for a nearby tree.

Most of the bus stops in Helsinki have those green shelters and tram stops look excatly the same except the picture of a tram on top of it instead of a bus. Also some bus lines have those electronic timetables showing times of next busses and special announcements.

This is Zaragoza (Spain) two types of stops and a bus shelter

The slim one, with No. 20 stopping is a standard stop, used around the city. Note that in the post, there is a disable sign. This was used as a busstop sign for a special regular service for disabled in the city. Normally, there are 11 buses used just on pre-called services. It was the first time the city had a regular line (two actually) for disabled people, although most of the fleet is currently disabled friendly.

The chrome one, with the funny blue shaped cartoon (Fluvi) was used for Zaragoza's 2008 Expo, that incorporated digital information of waiting time... In this case it was service EX5 stopping. Now, after the EXPO, they have been reused for standard services.

At the back, a standard bus shelter. Inside there is a bench for 4 people and a map of the network.
