Soroban, L&T is India's largest construction and engineering conglomerate and one of the largest non-promoter run companies in the country. I believe their turnover exceeds $ 10 Bn at present. Their latest achievement is the massive Terminal 3 at the New Delhi Airport, which is one of the three largest airport terminals in the world.

I have had the pleasure of working with them as a strategy consultant a few years ago and if any Indian company can get this done, it is L&T.

I have been trying to find T3 in one of the biggest terminals around the world.....I can't find it on the web....Where do people find that it is the fifth biggest or in your case the third biggest terminal..

On wiki...It is the 6th largest

I have the feeling you are talking about buildings/towers elevator. This one is a construction site one, the type that is attached at the side of the structure or some time inside the central core shafts.

I doubt you'd go awwww about the later

I meant for business towers. I have an odd fascination with how people move about enormous towers. Double Cabin elevators are just a neat solution.

Dune, Wiki also says eighth largest. I had been part of this project at its outset and I remember an early briefing that by gross area, this one would be the 3rd biggest. I guess that has changed since then, or maybe the rankings use a different measure of area.

Anyways, off topic as hell!

Can we assume construction will begin immediately at the end of monsoon season? And also will this building go on hold every year during monsoons? I'm hoping somebody knows

Well it's not officially on hold, it's was mainly put here because of trolling, but also slow progress.

But it should pick up speed once the monsoon is slows down (Sept-Oct). And this tower should not be on hold in monsoon once it's out of the basement.

The tower in site is progressing but it is too slow to say 'progress' in Skyscrapercity

Once the tower is above ground level it won't go this much slow in monsoon season

Thanks for informing me. I did a large project on the biology of India and how it is affected by heavy rain and sleet, flooding, wind etc. It seems that it would be much easier to progress once they are out of the mud and above the ground on solid steel/concrete. I hope that as the monsoons taper out over the next month or so we see some progress at the sight, this building design looks excellent.

People have mutually decided to stop discussing the tower's status until something dramatic happens or until September. Please don't re-ignite the fire.

Just asking, whats wrong with conversation in the forum? Please do let me know because people are always concerned with off topic forums and dug up forums with no news, and I'm not sure why it is a big deal.

There is no fault in your curiosity Don't worry about it, besides we can clearly see you are not trolling....lol....
And yeah when its out of the ground, it most likely won't stop for the next consecutive monsoons...Its like the typhoons in China....Sometimes they work in the typhoon, and the other times, they skip their shifts because its dangerous.

Yes I thought so, that's why I pointed out that the article was about the construction elevators to be supplied by a German company.

I don't see trolling, at least on the last few pages.

Dune, the monsoon only affects construction when the work's going on below ground level because there are challenges to de-water the site. Once the building comes out of the ground, there will be no break due to monsoons. That said, I have seen large projects push on during the monsoon downpour. Let's hope that the site starts buzzing soon.
