Ok, not a very good update (and it's quiet old too) but proof work is going. Most Indians don't really give a damn about skyscrapers, especially when their only in the ground, so it will be a while before pics.

I've heard months ago about a 700 or more meters tall Mumbai tower. I think the steel construction specialists Eversendai are involved.

Why are skyscrapers considered evil in India?

Really, they haven't mentioned anything on their website. Maybe they just haven't updated in a while.

Quit being a rube.

You sound like one of those out-of-staters who said the Devon Tower going up in OKC wouldn't look good because "it would stick out like a sore thumb", and that's being built as we speak...
On the contrary, I live in Tulsa and have said that I envy OKC for the building. OKC's Skyline would look fine with the Devon Tower.
PS-Not sure how a Tulsa v Oklahoma City battle is starting on a Mumbai thread, but you don't need out-of-staters to say that Tulsa is much better than OKC. Quick jab!

It is now being said to be 720m. A snippet from this article.

Quote:
For a builder to be known in Mumbai, he must have tall buildings. A few weeks ago, the Lodha Group created a buzz by announcing the launch of a 442-metre, 117-storey residential tower. The DB Group, promoted by Vinod Goenka and Shahid Balwa, wants to better that. The Group’s hotel, India Tower, coming up in south Mumbai’s Marine Lines, will scale 720 metres. Park Hyatt, which has signed a long-term lease with the DB Group, will manage the hotel.
Now that this tower has leaked into the press, hopefully there will soon be a buzz and people will go to the site.

Hope that more tall buildings will be constructed in that area...sort of wish they built it in the Lower Parel area instead of Marine Lines though....
