f**k me larven, you know bloody well i know about india so dont be daft.

i know very little about this project.
like us all.
we dont know the financiers or the actual spec or anything concrete(pardon the pun)
i am sceptical that even the richest man in the world, let alone india, would want to spend his money on a high spec hotel in mumbai.
im not saying anything except that.
im speculating that it will be built but not in the way everyones hoping for.
i could be wrong.
we'll see.
B B whats your angle on this?

If that was the case, more than half of South Mumbai's under construction projects (most of them are ultra luxury, opulent residential towers that a middle class Indian could never think of even getting in to, let alone live) wouldn't have made sense. Hell, if the richest man in India (dunno about the others) can build a 27 storey, 2 billion dollar home just for himself, a high spec hotel is just a small blip on the radar -going by your own logic. In fact, why are we even talking about the richest man in India? This project is being made by a construction company that is worth a lot less than the personal fortune of Mukesh Ambani (the billionaire in question) If THEY can visualize this, Ambani can in theory build a much more spectacular tower - if he really wanted to.

@dreadathecontrols

The Hyatt has signed up to run the hotel element so I don't know why you keep saying no one in India would want to spend so much money on a high class hotel. The developer already has a pre-let and a damn good one at that, Hyatt is a global operator with hotels all over the world. So the deal has already been done irrespective of your negativity surrounding the development!

This is the description of what the vision is for the Hyatt hotel in India Tower.

Quote:
Park Hyatt Mumbai, projected to open in the first quarter of 2014, will include 255 guest rooms and 55 serviced apartments. The hotel will be part of the iconic 125-story India Tower located on Marine Lines in South Mumbai. Foster and Partners, London has been selected as the leading designers for this full-service hotel, which will include exclusive banqueting and meeting facilities.
You also said this building won't be as tall or classy as the renders and that's 'the truth'. Well in addition to Hyatt's involvement you have probably the world's leading architect designing the tower. If thats not kudos and a sign of what's to come then I don't know what is.

Thanks.

Is it about 10km from the fountain?

Are any other highrise towers planned for the area?

More like 3 kms from fountain (according to Google Maps!)

As for other towers, Not many in the area - at least as of now. But there are a bunch of supertalls being planned slightly north off the India Tower - inlcuding the 446 m World One. At least for now, this one is gonna be the lone tower there.

Great. So it's basically in the same area as the fountain.

I hope that Mumbai booms like Shanghai.

2014, I believe. But then, there could be delays. Some folks here say it could even take a decade!

hmm people saying that it will be completed in 2018 or 2020.

I do believe DB reality will have a lot of workers working on it. There is no shartage of labour thats for sure.

Imperial got caught in legal issues hence it was slow on progression.

If they have the 175-200 workers working on the site in full blast for the next 4-5 years then IMO it should be completed.

It will be completed by year 2016 as confirmed to me by the site's chief engineer....I saw this conversation late ....ahem ahem....

@ Ichi...yeah there were easily 100-125 workers at the site already...DB has some reputation to take care of and building a thing which would be iconic for whole of India..humn..I don't think they'll take any chances....

Till now the progress is good and the scene at the site look far more serious than what you guys think....

the hyatt part of it is PART of the development.
the developemnt might be 40 stories and they could still have a hotel in it, or taking up all of it
the fact that someone at fosters is doing some work on it is completely irrelevent , they are a huge company.
they do work on countless projects
And adding their name to developement adds value.
It could , and usually does, mean that its an intern or new employee working on it.

where the hell is peoples analysis of suposed information?

untli fosters have given us a detailed spec of what they are being paid to do we have no idea about it.
And even then, there is no garuantee that anyone will fund them , (they aint cheap)let alone a 125 story project.
a 27 story building is just peanuts in construction terms, they go up all the time everywhere in the world and cost **** all.
a mega tall is a completely different undertaking
Look it takes about 2 years for this sort of thing to T O. So add a year for (indian) hiccups we should have the result by 2014.
If we dont have a conformed spec from a reliable source from within the industry for 125 stories by 2012, then my money says it will be something rather less dramatic.
i'm analitical & pragmatic, i'm not negative
but is there anyone here whose a wee bit nieve?
