There is no such thing as a second world in modern parlance. It used to refer to Soviet aligned countries, but obviously that usage is long since obsolete. Anyways, I would agree that Russia is definitely above the rest, but not China.

I'm so sorry my friend, but you need to study MUCH more!
The term 3rd world or 2nd or even 1st world is not used any more!

Anyway... The building is awesome! Great for India =]

Exactly, the terms 1st/2nd/3rd world is no longer being used.
There are only 2 kinds of countries, developed and developing.

And also, to chornedsnorkack, who give you the idea that china is better than brasil, china is not even half as rich as brasil, just because a high total gdp doesn't make it a developed country. Just like africa has higher gdp than switzerland, does it mean that africa is better than switzerland?

I did not say it is better, I did say it is 2nd world. As are Cuba, North Korea and Vietnam.

Okay, if china, cuba, NK, vietnam are all 2nd world, what makes india and brasil 3rd world country?

For your reference, 2nd world historically means developed countries that do not have a strong military power, such as spain, norway, singapore etc etc, unless you have a different definition for 2nd world, i don't think china will fit in the 2nd world categeory.
As for russia, in terms of per capita wealth, it might be at the brink of the 2nd world

I wouldn't be looking forward too much to new pics, foundation works are always boring as hell to watch. When it starts going vertical is when frequent updates become important, by then we'll hopefully an army of forumers with cameras scattered around the construction site.

dude it will be visible from the trains passing by once it rises on western railways.

You dont even need SSC forumers cause people will take pics from their mobiles passing on the trains and upload it to sites like Flickr.

Wish that the developers would release some official construction updates and pictures. That will definately take care of all the secrecy around the tower.

Um, no. Second world isn't even a word. They are all developing nations, but they are not "third world". Brazil, in fact, as a higher score on the Human Development Index than China. In fact, some parts of Brazil have HDI's on par with Sweden and Denmark.

India is still very poor, but come on, you've got to give that country props. Their reforms have lifted hundreds of millions of people out of poverty. India has a great future, and is a well functioning democracy. Which is why I'm shocked when I see people say that India needs to do more before building this tower. India has done a lot, and although I think this tower is an ugly creature, I think it will be a great way for the country to show that it can compete in the international economy.

So much for the India Tower Discussion!! I thinking of buying a carton of popcorn when next time I attempt to read this thread. Takes me a while to sort through the garbage to read something worthwhile!!

Housing Loan Scandal: A Near term hiccup for Banks
Realty stocks started falling indicating some news...

By DStreet Staff
The CBI today unearthed a multi-crore fake housing loans scandal involving major banks, housing loan companies and property developers. Reports suggest that senior officials from LIC Housing Finance, Central Bank of India and couple of big property developers from Mumbai.

The news of CBI raids created panic in the market with a sea of selling in the banks involved in the scandal.LIC Housing Finance was one of the major losers with the stock testing the lower circuit closing down by 18 percent at Rs 1,070. Shares of Central Bank of India finished the day losing 8 percent at Rs 198 shortly after hitting a low of Rs 191 in the final hour of trade.

Rumors on the street suggest the involvement of couple of big realty firms in the scandal. Property Developer D B Reality limited gave up more than 17 percent on concerns of the company's involvement in the scandal. The banking sectoral index lost 2.98 percent while the benchmark which tracks share prices of Realty firms, BSE Realty Index gave up 2.88 percent for the day. We at DStreet.in are of the opinion that this news could be an overhang on banking and Realty space in the near term and stocks in these sectors will underperform the market. We might see some fund selling in the banking space by the FII's who might be uncomfortable with the transparency and corporate governance issues.

Investors should avoid exposure to select banks atleast for the next two weeks, stay on the sidelines and wait for things to settle down before taking stock.

Um nice analogy but i believe there is a more technical term here...GDP per capita?

Btw why is this tower under U/C? I thought the rule here is that U/C must means they have started the digging, have i missed out any pictures?
