I do believe in the potentials of these two countries, but this project (at that place) is a global joke. Too bad, I just love the design.

Just to get an idea of the size of the hole.

India Tower

Shanghai Tower

The shape of the site and the surrounding buildings have a large influence on the perception of the dimensions of the site. And this doesn't mean it's not a small building site, but it's not too small for a supertall.

But donating money is soo much easier I guess?
Most of these oh-so-pompous morons who have no knowledge of basic economics keep talking about 'donating money'. Simple minds cannot think beyond donating money - they cannot comprehend and understand what you said.

Actually such people will be happy to see countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America etc. remain poor and underdeveloped, so that they can feel good about themselves, and also appease their conscience by donating to some obscure cause once a year. Because, the moment those poor countries actually start building their own factories, infrastructure, offices etc. and begin employment generation in their respective countries, it creates competition for them and their jobs. Then we begin hearing them whine about how "jobs are being stolen", how their own governments don't care for them, and so on. We can see this in good measure in the case of China, and to a lesser extent, India.

Don't get taken in by their pretentious "concern" for the world's poor. The day more and more poor countries begin to develop factories, outsourcing back offices, and so on, providing employment to millions, then just watch their concern change to hate.

It is not a podium building, it likes other buildings for example Burj Khalifa straight upward to the sky.

I just find that many people criticise this building are based on what they see from the photos and they forget a lot of time photos misleading people the height and size, unless these people go to site and finally they will realise they are wrong. Because the photo hardly show you true thing especially most site photos show in this thread are only show part of the site.

Thank You very much!

Could you please measure the exact whole in case of the India tower? Because that's the real diameter of the foundation itself.

That hole (no pun intended!) is a lot deeper and wider now (almost as wide as the total area of the plot). This Google Earth picture is almost an year old.

Check out the fresh photos. It's basically the same as it is on the Google Earth images.

Also the size of shanghai tower is less than that circle, means less than 199.89m (check page 283 of shanghai tower thread)

I'm telling you, IMO the foundation, for a building that size, is way too small. I truly hope that I'll be proven wrong though.

I have no idea how you can say that after seeing the latest images. It is evident that the hole is much larger than what is shown in the GE picture. Only two ends (the entrance and the third wing) are the parts that have not been excavated. Can't you see that the hole is as big as the plot itself with just a few meters of gap between the wall and the hole - unlike the GE image where the hole is still at the center? . If the hole is "just" as large as the GE image why do we see railings constructed for people to walk around the periphery of the plot?

Ok people, I think you just haven't seen right pics. Technical plans with marked site, the google earth pictures of the site and current updates all that prooves what we will get is the 720m design. Here we go:

Notice the site is exactly the same as on google earth pictures, and left wing of the core is exactly in the same position in the site as we can see on the current updates, its shape is clearly visible.

If these aren't convincing, then I don't know what is
