The most ridiculous comment i've ever encountered in SSC. There are many supertalls coming up in Mumbai and all of them are slighly north and north-west of India Tower. Location is such that it seems to stick out. And whats wrong in sticking out? This tower shows attitude.

Indeed. Even if it sticks out, it is only the beginning. I'm sure more towers will follow in the area. Hopefully.

The difference between indian and chinese supertalls is former is residential and latter is all commercial. chinese dont still have a residential supertall.

and as the the economy keeps on improving more need of commercial supertalls will arise.

so ultimately i see more and more supertalls in mumbai and other metros.

wait for GIFT city. its gonna be a cracker !

The Farmers' Apartment in Wuxi has already topped out.

Anyway there is little sense in comparing two countries on construction projects. Mumbai is a unique city and certainly does not have to follow a Chinese model.

b3ta's pic made me realize how tall it is going to be(although the reflection should have been longer). awesome project.

Well, according to Skyscraperpage, the Farmers' Apartment is initially designed to be fully residential tower, but now changed to mixed use. Yes a majority of its units are residential apartment, but it's not officially classified as a super-tall condominium.

This statement is very true!! Although recession in India isn't as bad as in the west, the commercial sector is still entwined to the vagaries of west. If and when the commercial sector takes off, the pattern will start moving towards Shanghai's model. The residential density coupled with commercial would create an interesting mix.

Wow I love it, going to stand out for miles around, about time Mumbai is going to have an iconic building.

we are not going to get commercial supertalls anytime soon. the fsi (floor space index) available for commercial projects is much lesser than residential (go figure)
