When is the building to the left (top picture) going to be demolished?

No, but if you were going to build the second highest building on earth, I would like to think the developers might want the area around it to improve. That building looks pretty rough. Maybe a simple pressure washing or new windows might help.

They can't do anything without the permission of the tenants of those buildings I think. They may offer them better houses somewhere else. Who knows. Long way to go before T/O in any case.

True. They will also probably hold out as long as they can for as much money as they can. Just like the little old lady in the 1974 movie HERBIE RIDES AGAIN. They wanted to build a HUGE skyscraper on her house, and she would not budge!

this can be the iconic project for india to compete with other countries skyscarper. but now india have only mumbai for the world.

all the development now actually is not enough to make mumbai a good living city by compare to other city. mumbai need a super massive re development.

back to topic, i am really wish india can finish this building on time or before another economic crisis. actually the progress is going pretty fast.

may i know who is the main contractor there?

They may as well demolish it. The layers of the wall were sliding off when I was in it. Had to go to a sturdier building to take picture in the end,

I've been looking at lots of the huge construction sites for Shanghai Tower, WTC, Burj Dubai, ect and this looks nothing like the hole for the world's second tallest building.

That seems realistic. 5 years is about what the Burj took and this is close to it in height.

One thing is for sure: If built, it may be the worlds second tallest, with the smallest base, and highest percentage of spire.

I'm not sure why you would say 'nothing' like. The hole is BIG and deep.

It's been said a hundred times, but I wish the forum had more camera-wielders in Mumbai. Having the world's second tallest with updates only every few months is just wrong. A project like this should be followed at least weekly.

Spires should not count in the height. The highest habitable floor should be the measure of a building's height.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work the way you want it to work. A spire, when it is a part of a structure (and in this case, a crucial part - and not just an add on as it holds the three cores together) can be considered a part of the building - and included in the overall height.
