Burj Dubai's height was reported as 720m early in it's construction, too, but then it became a hundred meters taller. The same could happen to this tower, who knows?

and when they keep it a secret it will be even cooler, we might have a "guess the height" thing again

But notice that if they would like to change the height, now is the time to do it. Becouse, unlike burj, this after leaving ground level rather can't be changed. If they lets say build 50 meters of it and then decide to change the height the walls would have to change its angles and that would be noticable and would destroy the whole design.

We have insider from architect company on this (or indian) forum. He would informed us about such modification of plans. Honestly at this stage (if not now) i don't think they will change the height.

Hi all.

Two points:
1 - The foundations for the BK were over engineered for as high as a 950 meter structure even when the plans were for 705 meters. This is very unusual because of the extra costs involved and is the only project I'm aware of where this is the case. The foundation for this project would have to be over engineered as well to even allow a height increase. Unlikely ...
Of course there is a small chance they increased the planned height before starting the foundations ...
2 - If either of the above happened to be the case they could easily add 25 meters to each zone of the design and it wouldn't be noticeable.

That being said I for one am happy with 720 meters and the second tallest manmade structure on earth for this project. Fantastic design also.

Yes, but they would have to alter height of every zone, therefore decision would have to be made now, not after let say constructing one zone with oryginal height.

If the realty wing of DB is investigated as part of the ongoing telecom investigation, this project is dead ...

http://www.dnaindia.com/india/report...ojects_1538542

There will be no height increases.

The developer has definitely paid various local, state, and federal government officials a lot of bribes in order to get approval to build such a tall building.

Mumbai's supertalls are being constructed due to sheer demand, the government has many rules and disincentives against tall buildings.

The project is now on hold indefinitely the 4 expats who were employed to manage the construction for DB has been fired and the job site is closed down .

This is due to the ongoing Telecoms scandal

I am glad that the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) is probing into the 2G scam and it's connection with DB and it's various subsidiaries. The corporations and beaurocrats, if found guilty, must be brought to justice and held accountable. If that means the end of India Tower so be it. The law does not and should not make exceptions in certain cases simply because the people involved happen to influential.

No I don't see anything in that article to indicate that has happened yet (the news story linked does NOT discuss this issue).

Also the construction is managed by an Indian firm (Larsen Touboro).

CULWULLA's partly right u know, some of us in the India forums too are concerned - but you must understand - in India - these things tend to work themselves out - but its complicated - and to the vanilla outsider - it portrays a gloomy picture indeed!! But we're all pretty sure the tower is going to be completed - drink to that !!

besides : with his 40,000 post count - he's pretty much earned the right to go where ever he pleases.
