I'm not wild about 3WTC; At first sight, it looks like the blueprints from the John Hancock Center, and the Sears Tower got mixed together, and that's what they came up with.

Overall the complex looks pretty good, but IMO nothing will live up to the old WTC Towers.

After Bofa and NYTimes Tower, I'm skeptical of the renderings. I wouldn't be suprised if there are some cheesy facades here. However, it will look pretty kick ass if it looks like the renderings.

i can't wait till everything is finished, new yorks skyline is going to be bigger than ever.

4WTC looks like a shorter version of Columbia Center in seattle, except columbia is way cooler

Correct.

'Before':

1 WTC - 'North' tower
2 WTC - 'South' tower
3 WTC - Marriott Hotel (along West St)
4 WTC - (low-rise building)
5 WTC - (low-rise building)
6 WTC - (low rise building)
7 WTC - (much newer mid-rise building across the street to the north of the 'Twins')

1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 WTC surrounded a large public plaza.

Also, didn't Santiago Calatrava (designer of the planned Chicago Spire and the Milwaukee Art Museum addition) do the design on the transport hub?

All of the towers are great! They would be iconic in any other city, and the size makes them even better. I find it overwhelming to see how much office space is going to be put into the market, but after losing so much and a growing economy, what can be expected! I can't wait until the day the complex is done.

Weren't the Twins nearly fully leased on 2001-09-10? (Yes, they were HUGE buildings.) Also, how do these four compare to the Twins in total GLA?

At first, I was not very impressed with this design. But it has really grown on me. I am quite confident that 20 years from now, once they are all built and have had time to "settle in" in the skyline, most people are going to be pretty happy with the final product. I just hope they can get actual construction going soon!

Really? I can't really see how a slant is offending, but beyond that I can't believe you don't like tower two! It's the best looking building in the complex, IMHO.

This may not answer your question but the former twins had about an acre of office space per floor per twin.

Yes they were fully leased. It is my understanding that each tower had 4 million square feet (or was it 4.5 million?). These 4 towers will have the same total sq feet as the originals.

Geez I thought these were supposed to be environmentally friendly. Doesn't anybody see how much fuel is used building these things? You make one (or two in this case) really tall buildings I imagine it takes less than making two (or four in this case) pretty tall buildings.

AMAZING.

IMO each and every building has its pros and cons. But the cons are quite minimal that you couldnt give 2 hoots. Each are different and will add so much to the actual skyline. Things will never be the same (sadly) and nothing will ever replace the old twins. But we gotta move on and do something.

Just out of curiousity, whens this project schedule to complete and wheres WTC 5 gonna go?

I think they all have pretty nice designs, looks like they will be a very good addition to the NYC skyline. I still liked the old WTC's better though.
