I think we could say NY is falling behind shanghai when it will have some more building to make it danser and with some hight quality design and that exactly what is happening so IMO NY is falling behind shanghai but i wouldn t say dubai because Dubai and NY just have nothing in common and that make them difficult to compare

You'll have to search for it at www.wtc.com since it's too big to host using imageshack.

You obviously have never seen in person or pictures of New York and if you have, you need glasses.

Yeah, that can be said with relative ease.

Can we stop whith this stupid patriotic behavior of you Amaricans. NY is not the most important city. NY has not the most amount of skyscrapers and NY has not the best architecture. What you DO have is a nice city whith some nice skyscrapers. It's worth visiting, no more no less. If you don't agree, I'm fine. Live your patriotic dreamlife and make yourself feel the most important. If that makes you happy you should do that

And now back to ground zero. The cam is online again!

Tag_one, how about you try spelling American right the next time you attempt to turn a thread into a flame war by implying patriotism towards a person's country is wrong...especially in a thread about skyscrapers being built in said country. Besides, NYC is one of the most important cities in this world, even if you don't want to believe it.
More on topic now: It will be an awe inspiring spectacle to see the WTC site in a year, perhaps two.

Yeah, it's pretty tough to put NYC below #1 in worldwide economic importance.

Call me condescending and elitist, but I have no respect for people who insult my city in my language when they can't write/speak it at higher than a 5th grade level.

I hope this thread is going on topic again. When i hope there something new to read you get this sh*t.
Start a topic somewhere in the sky bar and talk about how important cities are or not. And do not judge a city if you've never been there. And NYC wins it easy from Shanghai even in the coming years. (and I'm from Holland so there's nothing patriotic here)

well for me, NYC is still the best city in the world. there are probably other emerging cities nowadays but new york is new york and it's incomparable!

There are other cities with newer, taller towers, but not a city in the world can compare to the history and styles of buildings as NY. The skyscraper may have been invented in Chicago, but was perfected in NY.

Tag_one you won't be making any friends in here any time soon by downgrading New York. Read the top of the homepage and then tell me what it says. If it says SKYSCRAPERCITY.COM then you are correct. Hate to inform all those ny haters and downgraders out there but ny pioneered the skyscraper, has one of the most diverse collections of skyscrapers, a huge headstart, and still going strong... so why does everyone hope to beat that? Why does it seem that only New York construction, and proposal threads turn into this? I've been here for 4 years and this has been going on since I came here. It's ridiculous that New York threads turn out this way. When the title of this forum says Canalcity.com, or Mountaincity.com, or 17THcenturychurchspires.com then I think it would be appropriate to look down on New York.. by jumping ahead of New York you would need to first: Build up not only art deco, beaux arts, and neo classical skyscrapers, but fill in 200 city blocks north to south and 12 avenues east to west with as many midrises, then add in modernism by the buttload, then toss in pomo by the buttload, then add all those funky glass scrapers.. when you are as multi dimensional as Manhattan too boot then New York is definetly falling behind but until then I'd still say Chicago and New York still have the edge.
