Doesn't Foster's tower include quite a large area of space for 'trading floors' which are like 6 meters high each??? Perhaps this is the reason for the 78 floors with 412m, even thought I think 412m is the height to the triangle point. The roof is something near 380m I believe.

Oops I lied on here, the roof stated as 382m (from wiki)

I really like the aerial shot showing where these towers will be placed in relation to the site. I didn't realise they had such a large base. This part of New York will look brilliant when these are complete especially from the Hudson and Brookyln Bridge. This massive project will definately bring the New York skyline back to it's former glory (not that it ever failed to impress)

Nope, I absolutely love Tower 3, but the whole complex is simply amazing and I like every single one of them!

Was all that space just for the WTC or were other buildings pulled down?

The original and 'true' World Trade Center was a total of seven buildings over that entire site. It included the familiar 'Twins' ('1 World Trade Center' and '2 World Trade Center', '1' was the one on the right) on the two blue squares of that image, a 27 story hotel ('3 World Trade Center', located above the 'Twin' on the left and to the left of the 'Twin' on the right), three low-rise buildings ('4, 5 and 6 World Trade Center') arranged around a public square below and to the right of the 'Twins' on that main site and a seventh building ('7 World Trade Center') located across the street to the right. ALL SEVEN of those buildings were destroyed in the attack on 2001-09-11. 7 WTC collapsed in the late afternoon and since nobody was hurt when it came down, it was quickly rebuilt on a smaller footprint (the street to the right was extended through).

From the best that I can tell, the new '5 World Trade Center' will be built across the street to the left of that main site on land that was used by the Deutsch Bank building (the squarish tower in that image), which was mortally wounded in that attack (it took a large beam assembly from 2 WTC in the side, leaving a huge gash with those beams embedded in it) but has only recently begun demolition.

Also, to properly orient yourself, the Hudson River is just off the top of that image and 'north' is to the right.

Am I the only one to think that this complex is clashing with the World Financial Center complex, and the other surrounding buildings? I know peeps don't wanna talk about the old WTC, but IMO it blended flawlessly with the WFC, and other surrounding buildings.

Those two towers you see up there in the renderings are both over 1,200 feet (366m) tall according to a buddy.

I think the WFC and new WTC guys blend each other well. OF course, It will probably look better in real life than in renderings.

Jack Napier, I don't think you're supposed to be posting those pictures online. They were first linked by a WNY member and the source promptly asked the admins of WNY to take it down. If any moderator is reading this, they should take down those pictures of the twin skyscrapers.

I'll take them down, hope everybody had a peek at the preliminary designs.

FastFerrari still has the renderings up though on the previous page.

It would've been nice if the render also showed the tower going up adjacent at the hotel penn site. Along with penn plaza, this cluster of 4 skyscrapers just might rival the New WTC.

I remember reading a commentary a few years ago where the people responsible for the WFC said that they designed their buildings to complement the WTC towers and sort of serve as their "foothills". IIRC, when the original WTC was built, the dirt that was dug out of its 'bathtub' hole was used as river fill for where the WFC sits now. It was a huge expanse of developable, open new land throughout most of the 1970s.

that makes no sense... Why should someone prohibit someone from showing a picture or a render of a skyscraper? If it was leaked... boohoo

Will these towers have new names? Like im assuming WTC 2 wont be known as WTC 2. Abit like how Tower 1 is now known as Freedom Tower.

But il hate for these beauties to lose its naming rights though to big companies. For example, how sad would it be if WTC 2 was called Air America Tower or something.

Maybe it was accidental, but that is a particularly bad example.

I have a feeling the majority if not all will come to know them after completion as World Trade Center 1-2-3-4 and 5?
