Just an opinion

As you notice, most of the caisson holes are gone. They are filled with gravel and rocks to create a flat construction site. This makes it much easier to move around the equipment on the site. Once all the holes are drilled, the filled holes will be excavated again.

I'm of the opinion, that an additional 20 floors, added to tower 2, making it the tallest physical building in the composition, (at about 1'500 feet) would be a great alternative.

I agree with you. In any case, it's a massive undertaking.

around 2010 my cousin who lives in astoria, plans to marry... and i plan to visit the US during that time. I hope that i will find some time to visit NY by then and see the world trade complex. I wonder in what state it will be... Guess that it wont be finished.

You're certainly correct in stating it won't be finished! With the recently announced delays it's just anyone's best guess. All we can say is it will be above street level and not finished!

I would imagine it would be even cooler to be around while its all under construction but well above ground level. I don't know until we actually get to that point but I think in the years before it all gets wrapped up and after all of this waiting to see it above ground, it would seem pretty significant to get to watch it all in person. Instead of seeing it completed you get to watch history unfolding before you.

No that is actually the Hudson River that fill those holes. The water comes through cracks in the Manhattan Schist.

And people wonder why it's taking awhile to get all this happening!
