Here's an intersting quote from Hyderabadnews.net which sheds some light on the density of this CBD project:
Quote:
...
“Hyderabad has proved itself,” avers BP Acharya, VC and MD, APIIC when asked about the global standing of the city and the umpteen international ventures. “It does not need that much marketing anymore. We are capitalising on the reputation the city has and none less than the World Bank calls it the ‘most business-friendly city in India’.” With several new projects, such as the Business District and Trade Towers at Manchirevula, which will be a compact business district like Manhattan and house India’s tallest building, this image is likely to be reinforced.
...
Is this really planned to be a compact CBD, with Manhattan like density?

EDIT - oh. Wait. They've redefined CBD to mean "compact business district", not "central..". Never mind

I guess that it'll be like a Dubai- or Shanghai-like planned city with wide roads and space (-bleh surburbia brought downtown-) surrounding the towers, and not NYC- or Mumbai-like ultra-density.

This should not make us complacent as we were before when the nieghbouring states knocked away most of the projects that would have come here.By the way how long it will be for the so called CBD to take shape. As a son of the soil Hyderabadi i know we Hyderabadis are carried away easily.

Anil on top of 100-storey tower
Hyderabad, July 6: Anil Ambani’s Reliance Energy has bagged the 100-storied trade tower-cum-business district project at Manchirevula on the city outskirts. Reliance Energy quoted Rs 6.57 crores per acre while its competitor Elbit Medical Imaging, an Israeli firm, quoted Rs 6.10 crores per acre. The upset price was Rs 6 crores per acre and the project is estimated to cost Rs 5,400 crores.

Noted architect Hafeez contractor also favoured the design for the tower submitted by Reliance Energy. In all, the overall marks given to Reliance were 75.40 out of 100 while Elbit got 71.29. Reliance Energy will start construction by September and will engage the services of world renowned architect Norman Foster. Company officials expressed happiness at getting the contract since the opening of financial bids coincided with the death anniversary of founder Dirubhai Ambani.

The tower with 100 floors will be about 450 metres tall and will accommodate offices, hotels and malls. “The company will be given the confirmation letter in a few days,” said Mr B.P. Acharya, managing director of the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation. “The trade tower has to be constructed in three years and the business district in five years.”

APIIC put a pre-bid condition that the company which bagged the contract should first construct the trade tower in 30 acres and would be given the remaining 50 acres after that. A special purpose vehicle will be set up to execute the project in which Reliance Energy will have 66 per cent equity, Bangalore-based Sobha Developers 23 per cent and APIIC 11 per cent.
we have company for the Lanco Hills 100F Signature tower!

Awesome!

Norman Foster, eh? That's pretty cool. Looks like intiial reports were right in saying HC was the master planner.

Looks like it will be a mixed use tower. 450m is about 1500 feet. Seems there is already an initial design. Now that it is approved, the website we need to to keep an eye on:

what's interesting is that they're building the trade tower first and the rest of the business district after that. Compare that to Lanco Hills, where the outlying towers will finance the supertall.

Maybe they want to make sure that the tall one comes up first.

I believe there is going to be a race towards the top for the title of the tallest building in the city!

Thumbs up Its an INTRACITY rather than INTERCITIES race for the Tallest

APIIC finally announcing who will construct their 100-F Tower with construction time around the corner has everything to do with LANCO 'Signature' Tower putting all the pressure on APIIC & Ambanis. No wonder APIIC & Ambani announcing this on Lanco Hills biggest day of booking.

Thumbs up

I love the upbeat mood in here! Both these towers are going to kick some serious butt! On a side-note, I'd love to see some sweet looking sleek skyscrapers come up especially in Chennai, it being an important coast city and all.

REL, Sobha win Rs 6,400cr project in Hyd
BS Reporter / Hyderabad July 7, 2007
A consortium led by Reliance Energy has emerged as the successful bidder for the Rs 6,400 crore business district project proposed in Hyderabad by the state-owned Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation(APIIC).

The project will have three modules, including a 100-plus storied tower, and is scheduled to be completed in three years. The project is expected to be completed in five years.

According to an official of Reliance Energy, the business district project will have a built-up area of about 11 million square feet. This is the first major infrastructure project being taken up by the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group in Andhra Pradesh.

Reliance Energy will hold 66% equity in the project while its joint venture partner, Sobha Developers, will hold 23% stake. The remaining 11% equity is held by APIIC towards the land component of the project.

Thumbs up Is it a 100-F or 100-Plus-F Tower?!?!

Sources are in conflict with APIIC Tower being 100-F or 100-Plus-F. I cant wait to see the renderings of this.

Hafeez was in it from the beginning looks like. I just hope its not a re-work of his Obelisk. I'd like to see something earth shattering like NOIDA TOWER. So u/c time is Sept '07-Sept-'10.

BTW, I believe this is coming up very close to the Lanco Hills so it would be interesting how Hyd skyline will shape up in next 3 yrs.

Sun..........................APIIC Chairman always talked about a "landmark" tower in Hyd like Petronas @ K'lumpur, Sears T @ Chi, Taipei 101 @ Taipei. From his view, 2x60-F going to 1x80-F now going to 100-Plus-F "landmark" Tower was probably the only thing planned by APIIC initially. Other 2 modules are most probably added much later sincer they are scheduled to be completed by '12 (5yrs u/c time) when compared to APIIC Tower scheduled to be completed by '10 (3 yrs u/c time).

Me personally, I'd like to see only 100-F Tower come up & fill to the top asap. You don't wanna give buyers looking at modules 2 & 3 & foregoing 100-F Tower.

It is not uncommon for tallest skyscrapers not to disclose the exact number of floors in the begining.

Looks like a race between Reliance & Lanco?

Yeah

Just another way to think about the size of this project, this will be 11 mil sq ft. in built up area. Lanco Hills is just shy of 8 mil sq ft. Unitech Grande is 15 mil sq ft.
