Those pictures were taken on 10th January this year. It would be interesting to see what the progress has been made since then.

This is quite a crucial moment in the development. If things go any further than this, it's beyond the point of no return and this thread will run and run. The signs are positve here: the tower crane is up. And the marketing suite is open.

But if you're a regular follower of this thread you may, looking at these pictures, be thinking what I was thinking. The site felt ominously quiet this morning. At 9am there were only three people there. Quite a contrast to the 8am-to-7pm human anthill that was previously visible (to the extent that it was often quite hard to get a picture for all the lorries trying to squeeze past into the site).

Maybe this is just a scheduling gap between the groundwork and the tower phase - who knows. We'll soon find out.

To be fair, no construction dates were ever given, and the tower was always the last part of the development.

Tall buildings in Vauxhall

Tradescant Road resident Peter Papp has put together this amazing diagram comparing the heights of various proposed tall buildings in Vauxhall.

He has included comparisons with existing local buildings (Market Towers, Keybridge House) and other notable London landmarks: The Shard, The Gherkin and the Post Office Tower (whose renaming a quarter of a century ago I stubbornly refuse to acknowledge. Same with the NFT; BFI Southbank my eye).

Some of the buildings are in the process of being built, some are just at the ideas stage and one (Octave Tower) has actually been refused planning permission. But it gives you a good idea of where Vauxhall is headed.

The little red blob is the size of a double decker bus.

There hasnt been much activity on this thread. Anyone got some pictures or something as I rarely see this part of London in deail. I love the tower though. Its really good looking!

For reference... this tower will be only 1 metre shorter than London Landmark 'Tower 42'.
