I was at BNS(Bangabandhu National Stadium) area few weeks back and the entire outer stadium was transformed under army supervision. They have removed hawkers and completely rebuilt all the entrances, expanded the sidewalks, made grassed medians and planted flower plants on both side. Also, there is a new parking lot right outside of the stadium.. Moreover, the whole area is going through extensive road carpeting.

That's good to hear..... inside the stadium, to me SBNS looks fine but just too small for a city like Dhaka. Also the grass looks a little shabby.

But hey, are they setting up stage and decoration yet? (for the opening ceremony)

The brilliance of the overhead decorative lights, part of the city's facelift for the 2011 World Cup, on the road in front of the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium at Mirpur has pedestrians and motorists gazing in awe yesterday.

Wow! Looks like they are carrying M16. I didn't know that our law enforcement agencies used M16.

Photo looks good!

DMP (Dhaka Metropolitan Police) SWAT (Special Weapons And Tactics) is an elite tactical unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police. They operated under the Detective Branch of DMP.

The manpower size of the DMP SWAT is estimated to be in the region of less than a thousand personnel. Though they operate under the DMP they can be called to perform their duties in any part of Bangladesh.

They are considered to be the most highly trained and best equipped SWAT/counter-terrorism unit in the South Asian region according to their American trainers.

The force is based in the Detective Branch Headquarters located in Minto Road, Dhaka.

I wish , we cud see more pics of Dhaka city and the two stadiums! wud be great if we find a thread/site online where a professional photographer posted a series of beautiful pictures of ICC world cup preparations from Bangladesh.Isn't there anyone who can take some pics ??? :-( Personally i have heard, the BCC, Bd govt and BD ARMY has done a fabulous job in such a short span of time. DCC has failed as usual though the mayor told he will make Dhaka all shiny but he couldn't even kill the mosquito in time! so after all these renovations, people are concerned about Mosquito bites in Dhaka!

Press coverage and good photos are limited. Hopefully, post-world cup there will be many more beautiful photos
