Only trams. The company of Tram Alicante is FGV (Trains of Valencian Government) and the national rail is operated by Adif.

theres 2 "national" national companies , Renfe and FEVE

And then theres a couple of "national" regional companies like FGC , Euskotren and FGV

FGC is the regional operator in the Velencian comunity (a regional province/government of spain)

The tram-train shares its route with some regional trains (since the acess to the suburbs is thru the renewed tracks) ... as can be seen in these images:







This is an "old" (take it with a grain of salt here) series 2500 EMU.

Tram-trains doesn't share track with regional trains, because regional trains are high level and tram-trains the same level as a tramway, you can see the provisional platfform in high level and under it the tram-train platform, in low level.

FGV doesn't have anything in common with FEVE, only that FEVE was operating the line Alicante-Denia until 1986, when FEVE leave this line and FGV begins to operate it, now mostly network is refurbished and adapted for tramways and tram-trains, only the line 9 (Benidorm - Denia) is like when FEVE operates the line.

wait some years until Croatia joined the EU. They will give you - as they gave Spain - enough money to built a nice LRT network in any city exceeding a population of 100000!

The TRAM network is build with the money of Valencian Governament (over 750 million €), Alicante (capital) has over 325.000 people and a urban area over 430.000, the metropolitan area its over 730.000 people.

Now a days all the lines run every 30min unless L9 that runs every 60", as you can see in the tour video, theres a section with single track (is projected a tunel with 2 track in that section) it make imposible put more trains/tram-trains at our.

At night (only thursdays, fridays and saturdays) lines 1 and 3 changes it terminal station from Mercado to Porta del Mar, that stop is near the party zone so its more usefull, wach the map for a better understanding: http://www.fgvalicante.com/tram/pdf/TermometroTRAM.pdf

FGC is the operator for Catalonia.
The regional operator for Comunitat Valenciana is FGV.

First light rail in Spain.
First tramway in tunel/segregated.
First tram-train sistem in Spain.
Most long light rail or tramway line in Spain (L1 with 44km)
Most faster light rail (comercial speed 35km/h, normal tramway in Spain 18-22km/h).

Network in 2011, dark sections are underground, L1&3 is segregated, the rest (L2,4,5...), not unless shared tracks (i don't speack english so i don't understand what i said) xDD:
