In that section trams only run in one way. That stop is "Paises Escandinavos".

Now there are 3/6 underground station in service, Marq, Mercado and Luceros.

Here the underground section in the future:

Are there any plans for an extension to line 4L? It seems a bit redundant at the moment. It'd be great to see a (surface running?) extension of 4L to the old Estacion de Murcia, and perhaps take over the old alignment from there to San Gabriel cercanias.

It'd give much better service to the waterside and the southern parts of the city centre, and help regeneration around the port area. Something like this

What is the construction cost of line 2 overall with the tunnels?

It´ll be probably closed, if it hasn´t already.

I remember riding on this years ago when it was being constructed (travelling from Benidorm to Alicante), and we had to get off at the Marina. It's great to see the system growing!

New line 2 (to be seen as L2 on the maps), from Alicante to Sant Vicent del Raspeig will finally start operating on September the 1st 2013!!!

AT LAST!!

Two years later than expected (budget austerity arrived...), the line will finally be opening.
This is supposed to be the main line of the Alicante tram-train system, and the most "pure-tramway-like".

One tram each 15 minutes, with a tram each 8 minutes at the peak hours to start with. That´s the first phase.

On a second phase, by 2017, the opening of the tunnel under Serra Grossa hill, between Sangueta and La Isleta stops of lines L1, L3 and L4, will allow much more room for L2 trains, and the frequencies will be improved to a tram each 10 minutes, and each 5 minutes at peak hours.

It will allow for more trams? Full segregation would help for higher frequency.

The section between Sangueta and La Isleta stops is still single-track, and is a part of the old railway line Alicante-Benidorm-Denia (thus fully segregated).

The new tunnel under the Serra Grossa hill will allow in 2017 (according to what the authorities say...) to double-track that section, and provide a better reliability on the line, and that will allow better frequencies on L2, even though L2 junction is located between MARQ and Sangueta stops and won´t run under the new Serra Grossa tunnel.
