Yes, Bulgaria need to get organized, and start a nationwide motorway construction program. Completing at least the A1 and A2, and also a Ruse - Istanbul motorway corridor. Is there any motorway U/C at the moment at all?

Lulyn motorway A5(apx.20km expected to be ready about 2010-2011) , connected with Sofia's bypass , and a small section of Maritza i think.
We still have some problems with funding A1 which won't be that hard to be done, considering the suitable terrain...

Do you know where Pravets is? That's the birth palce of Todor Jivkov, our former commie dictator and the hardest part through the Balkans was built just to serve him and his co-villagers connection with Sofia ... Actually since he fell from power they managed to build there only one short stretch from Pravets to Yablanica(one tunnel + 1 viaduct) between 1998-99 and that's it ... no movement since then... The progress on the other side was bigger(if i can say it liek that) ~40 km. near Shumen, but there the terrain is plain...

The situation is tragic ... and mainly on political level. The biggest tragedy is with the remaining 3 lots of Trakia motorway. It's been 8 long years and 2 governments mandates full of given and taken concessions ... false tenders, promises , lies ... and only severall dozens of new kilometers opened, already started by the governement before 2001... Don't want to get into details cause i will get really mad

also in romania a small village called Scornicesti received town status and attention during communist times, just because it was the birthplace of nicolae ceausescu.but it's important that hemus was build, no matter the reason.do you know if there are works at some sections of marica motorway?it seems to me marica it's a very important motorway.

Foglights might help?

It seems to be the new thing Irish drivers are doing nowadays but where is the fog? Nowhere to be seen!!!! The drivers main reason is that their car looks cooler with fogs on. Daft or what. Around half of drivers at night have their fogs on.

They should be fined. Foglights are very annoying for other drivers if there isn't fog or very heavy snowfall.

About the construction of new stretches... well, until 2003 there was not so much money to build new motorways. Also, the main priority was to repave most parts of the most congested national road, which were total crap at that time. After that they began with about 50 km of Thrakia, 25 of Struma and parts of Maritsa. but since EU stopped the funding there will be no new routes until they are defrozen... Which may be soon, but depends mainly on the greed of some politicians (I will quote one of the most famous Bulgarian expressions: "Why make it easy when it can be hard.").

The funniest thing about this motorway is that they are going to open the section between Sofia and Malo Bučino for the EC delegation and close it right after...

They are going to open the first 5-6 km of Lyulin motorway for the 18 june, but no trucks will be allowed till it's all finished. I think this way the builders are cheating because the warranty period will be running after 18 june, but without trucks the load on the road is much lower than the nominal, so defects won't come out ) (eastern european work style ) )
