You need grass and earth for drainage.

Really? Now without sounding unfriendly, but how did the Struma motorway survive 4 years without any hole and without grass in the middle altough there is a lot of snow there for 4 months every winter and it often is covered entirely in snow when it doesn't get clean?

the bad thing will be, that the grass wont be cut often and it will look ugly after some years when the grass is higher then a meter.

Only God knows how, but that isn't going to continue for long. Haven't you heard about the landslides at the first few kilometres of Struma highway near Pernik and the warning that they can damage and undermine the asphalt? Something has to be done about that.

No, I have not heart about that unfortunately, I hope the problems are not too big and that they will do something about it.

You can have various types of drainage.

The cheapest way is a grass / earth median where water drains into. A more expensive option is to build a sewage system in the median. Another option is to build a cross-slope on the pavement, so water only flows to one side. A standard cross-slope is encouraged anyway, because otherwise you will have too much water on the pavement = aquaplaning.

the motorway is built very well and I guess it wont break because of a few rocks, not this motorway. And if something breaks I am sure aswell, that it wont be fixed, because it is untypical for Bulgaria to fix broken roads, except it's not possible to drive there anymore.

And I find it very bad that even now no documents about Struma motorway have arrived at Brussels, really poor.

You called us fools, not whoresons. Guys, I think Radi is finally growing up.

But what is Strumatic, we have to define what Strumatic is, a word that refers to the experience of driving/travelling on a superior motorway called Struma motorway or to the ultimative psychedelic road experience only possible on brand new roads and most effective when there´s snow outside so that the shiny crashbarriers shine even more and reflect the snow and the asphalt looks even better. I must think of it´s best definition first. -Radi Click

It looks like this thread should be named Bulgarian highways/motorways/crashbarriers
According to the map above there is a missing part of A1 of Sofia ring. Is there any plans to connect two parts of A1 in the future?

The Northern tangent of Sofia is (will be) a part of A1.
