A roundabout junction for what may be a junction of three motorways in the future (if one will branch off to Pernik / Macedonia)? Wouldn't that be problematic. If this was in Western Europe I'd say the Pernik - Sofia connection would have potential traffic volumes of 60.000 - 100.000 vehicles per day (based on population only).

IMHO, yes it would. Currently AADT is 35.000+. And plans for Sofia-Macedonia motorway have dropped out. We would build an expressway. Moreover, Macedonia's government doesn't plan to upgrade the road Kumanovo-BG border soon either.

Rented cars are not allowed to be driven also in many parts of EU itself, normally in Italy (luxurious cars) and East Europe. Check carefully the specific conditions on the renting agreement.

На първите снимки се вижда, че е извършен ремонт на дясната лента на магистралата, където се бяха образували коловози. Следва напредъкът на работата по колоните на моста в кръговото за една седмица.

A bulgarian forumer has seen some ground works at the end of Maritsa Motorway[A3] near the turkish border. So 2-3 km from this motorway from village of Generalovo bypassing from the north Kapitan Andreevo till the turkish border are U\C.

He has defied our disbelief with some evidence today:

Както се вижда от снимката е доста кално и за това не съм се разхождал по цялото трасе.

Тук се вижда колко близо ще върви АМ до сегашният път Е80.

В далечината се виждат покривите на паркинг Генералово.

За сега толкова.

10 Companies Bid for Lot 2 of Bulgaria Maritsa Highway

Bulgaria's Road Infrastructure Agency is opening Thursday the submitted bids for the construction of Lot 2 of the "Maritsa" highway.

About ten companies have taken part in the public tender for the construction of Lot 2 of the highway from Dimitrovgrad to Harmanli.

All Bulgarian companies have submitted joined bids with foreign ones over the more demanding requirements.

The lot is 34-km long with an estimated construction price of BGN 200 M; the deadline is 27 months from the date of the signing of the contract.

The Maritsa highway construction will be simultaneous to its project design. The archeology digs and the appropriation of some lands are also pending.

The public tender requirements were made stricter compared to those for the Trakiya highway after Moststoy, the company building the segment between Yambol and Karnobat, declared bankruptcy. For this reason, only companies which have previously built highways can now bid for Maritsa.

12 companies submitted bids for the construction of Lot 1 of the "Maritsa" highway from Orizovo to Dimitrovgrad.

Building the motorways is two. The most important problem in bulgaria is the Police. (Cat) They are doing very dificult and use the power very bad for the passengers who pass Bulgaria. I hope they will chance. I use now Serbia, Macadenia and Greece.

I didn't understood much. Did you have problems with bulgarian traffic police("КАТ")? And when? What was the situation?
Is this why you are avoiding Bulgaria?
