BG government will give additional 30mln euro to FCC to finish the project on time(2012).

I wonder if Radi would use Calafat-Vidin bridge to travel to BG and give us his wonderful reports on roads in west-south RO and north-west BG.

€27M, if we should be exact... With the difference of 3 million we could build a couple or a little more kilometers of expressway towards it

P.S. Radi will use the new bridge and northern branch of E79 only if they use smooth black asphalt and shiny crashbarriers

It is unbelievable that you travel 40 km mostly on bridges or enbarkments on Ljulin and Struma motorway, you do not travel a lot on flat road wtih landscape, the struma motorway is above the surroundings everywhere except where it goes through the rocks, the Ljulin motorway is on bridges all the time.

This should be the sing at the beginning of the Ljulin motorway, that informs people where they go. After one year when the next section Struma motorway is done, the green would get more, I think such a sign would inform people, what they have to prepare for.

The given kilometers are quite wrong. Most of them are quite less than the ones you have written. Also, why do you think it is important to write the names of small villages like Studena and Dolna Dikanya and not write the names of bigger towns like Sandanski, Bansko, and more important - the international destinations - Thessaloniki and Athens?

It's a bit strange tradition on Bulgarian road signs to write not the international destinations, but the closest to the border bulgarian village (in this case Kulata). That's why on the macedonian direction you would not see Skopje, but Gyueshevo.

I know, I should have written Thessaloniky and maybe Athens and beneath it, (bad markings) And the small towns are indicated in order to show which towns the Struma motorway connects yet, since it hasn't reached Dupnica yet. Such a sign would be nice in real life though with Struma and Ljulin motorway spelled on the sign so that the people think, WTF. I should make one and mount it there.

By the way, which kilometers are wrong? Kyustendil, Radomir? Dupnica, Blagoevgrad and Kulata are right, Studena, Dolna Dykania and Pernik aswell, since the lengh of LJulin motorway is 19 km

From Dragitchevo to Kulata is 158 km + 19 km = 167. Quite less than 220.
Sofia-Blagoevgrad is 96 km from center to center. But A5 Lyulin doesn't start from the center of the city
Same for the others.

Blagoevgrad - Sofia is 96 km from Sofia beginning at vladaya south til Blagoevgrad north, that is what is logical. Since measurements are always from town end to other town beginning.

In fact 96 km is by measurement from Ploshtad Nezavisimost (independence square) right in the center of Sofia, and it ends on street Bratya Miladinovi in the center of Blagoevgrad.

From Vladaya (the exit on nationalroad close to the railwaystation) to Blagoevgrad's kvartal Gramada is 80 km.

I should advise you to use routing engines like bgmaps.com or viamichelin.com which give you the opportunity to measure from exact address/location.

But I know that both, the Struma and the Ljulin motorway are 19 km, which makes 38 km motorway, so from Dolna Dykania to Pernik it is 19 km and from Pernik to Ljulin motorway beginning another 19. So you sound like the distance from Blagoevgrad to Dupnica is far less then the Distance from Dupnica to Sofia, while I thought it is half. I know that a sign at the end of the Struma motorway at Dolna Dykania specifies 24 km to Dupnica, which means 24+19 = 43 km - Dupnica - Pernik. And when you add 5 Km til Vladaya you get 48 km Sofia Dupnica, so Blagoevgrad Dupnica is only 32 km?

Just use the routing engines instead of using "logic" to measure km!

From center of Dupnitsa to the center of Blagoevgrad is 34 km:

I wanted to share a few impressions about the Bulgarian marica motorway, a new section being built right now that looks again like a motorway coming from a future world. The asphalt looks very special and people seeing it first will stop cause they will have no words for what they see. After that they will press the aceleration pedal and see how the motorway is as smooth as smooth rubber and how nothing is being felt.



Just look at the extremly shiny crashbarriers here, done with very pxpensive metall and polished in order to provide light assistance during night.



And here, all the way shiny crashbarriers and mindblowing asphalt, a lot of people will have races here since they know, that is a stretch where they can test their cars or fix loose suspensions cause of long kilometers smooth, even and soft asphalt is rehabilitating them.

Now the thermoplast markings with special layer for new driver assistance in cars that keeps the lane have not been applied yet, but will be, soon.

The old road beneath has reat asphalt and needs new markings to be applied only.

Where is the thermoplast road marking? I've read they're so thick in Bulgaria they can launch your car.
