From www.danubebridge2.com
Quote:
The first stay cables of Danube Bridge Vidin-Calafat, 10.11.2011

The installation of the first pair of stay cables of the unique, in Bulgaria, combined railway cable-stayed bridge over the Danube at Vidin-Calafat has started. The beginning is at the eighth pair of segments of the superstructure of the bridge at pier PB9, which are among the most loaded. After the installation of the stay cables they shall be tensioned. Only then will it be proceeded to the assembly of the next pair of segments – the ninth one.

On each of the four piers of the bridge superstructure in the navigable channel of the Danube there will be installed 13 pairs of stay cables. They are made of high-quality stainless steel core, HDPE-protection and a metal pipe.

The installation of the cable –stayed construction is being executed by the Spanish company, subcontractor under the project “Danube Bridge Vidin-Calafat” – BBR-PTE.

In fact this is a first class road. And the part from town Malko Tarnovo toward Turkish border (about 9km.) is not part of the current rehabilitation. There is a project for new ringroad of Malko Tarnovo and complete reconstruction of the road from the town to border, adding 3-th lane, but tihis is now stopped.

this pic shows that the Struma motorway still rules. Aktually it still looks like it looked at the beginning and therefore still looks and is one of the best motorway in europe.

Truly, this is a piece of Eden worthy of the gods themselves to drive on. Surely a spell has been cast to freeze time so that the Struma Highway will never age.

I still think that the new Romanian A2 looks better than Struma. The asphalt si way more black and the crash barierrs are double and they shine more.

let's see in 5 years. Also, asphalt does not need to be black, it is fine when it is dark grey, the importance is in texture, the Struma motorway has incredible asphalt texture that shows highest quality and grib for the tires.

Show me a few pics of the A2 in Romania

More likely 24 000... And even not in this part. I'm not sure it's been measured lately there.

The struma motorway has same traffic everywhere, since hardly anyone will go to the small villages that it has exits on. All people driving on the struma motorway go to Dupnica, Blagoevgrad or further. No the Ljulin motorway might have more traffic since traffic to Pernik, Radomir and Kyustendil might drive on, but people on Struma motorway will not leave somewhere at nowhere, so this motorway has same traffic volume everywhere.

You can see more pictures on the romanian section: A2 & A4 (Constanța Bypass) Motorways

A2 and A4 are not completed yet, but part of them is already opened to traffic.

at motorways with constant 25000 vehicles per day you cannot catch a single minute with such low traffic during the daylight.

That picture looks impressive. the crashbarriers however have a strange shape, I do not like that the metall holders are way too narrow so that when you drive fast it will be distracting to the eyes, however it might be more secure than on the Struma motorway with big distance between the holders.

It looks more like 10.000 - 15.000 vehicles per day.

Of Course. The data of 24-25 000 daily is not from Struma motorway, but from other parts of E79, especially from Kniajevo-Vladaya pass before opening of A6 Lyulin... But it is combined traffic between E79 and Pernik-Sofia-Pernik commuters
I'm sure on Struma it hardly exceeds 10 000, except for national holidays and summertime holidays. But what I said is that on the great mighty 19 km stretch of A5 Struma, traffic was never measured.
