Yeah, the price seems to be little credible...

Well, as the cheapest motoeway section, which is beeing built now in Bulgaria, the LOT 1 of A6 Struma Dolna Dikanja - Dupnitza, costs about 1,7 mln € per km, and it's not situated on flat land, I tnink that 2,5 mln per km is realistic. More over I guess the Shipka tunnel which has been planned for decades, is not included in that project. In addition, the projekt is planned as an expressway, which is cheaper than a motorway, also some sections like Stara Zagora - Yagoda (through Sredna gora mountain) and A3 Maritza are already completed, as that expressway obviously is not planned to reach Svilengrad.
Hope works will start soon an that project!

How the hell do you get to those prices? In Romania the cheapest ones are 5-6 M € / km

We had 3.5 mil / km for Arad-Timisoara motorway, and Bacau by-pass is assessed at 3 mil / km.

The price include only the construction itself, not expropriation, nor architecture planing. The place for saving money are lack of lightning of the cloverleafs, some cheaper crash barriers, and many other details.

Actually the price mentioned in Bulgaria was 1.5 billion. But it's only an approximate value.

1.5 billion leva? Because this is what our media (Romania) said.
Do you have any more details about the partnership with Qatar? Normally the value of such a contract is much larger than the cost for construction. And it includes the cost of the money and how much the government has to pay each year.
Thank you.

1,5 billion euro is the sum that circulated in Bulgarian media.
The good thing is that the government wont be obliged to pay anything to the investor if the traffic is lower than expected. At least something like that has never been mentioned by any source of information.

Some pictures of LOT3 of A1 Trakiya which is also due to open for traffin on July 1st. Greek contractor Aktor had to remove some 15 km of the already layed asphalt because of lower quality.

I don't know why Greek companies are allowed to work in Bulgaria. they have failed building roads in the past and now they have been choosen again, that does not make sence. On the road Bansko Goze Delchev Greek companies were involved in building it and what they didwas the last shit. Now they are working on the Struma and on the Trakya motorway. Bulgaria better takes their own companies to do the job and get Bulgarian people employed. For example Glavbulgarstroi, which did an excellent job on the Simitli - Bansko road, which is one of the best roads in Bulgaria. Or they should take Serbian or macodonian or Italian companies, but not Greek.

Greeks are good for music or foot, but not for motorways.

Thank you.
There are no details on this future contract. It's a matter of negotiations between three countries involved. Also there is no clarity about Turkish role in whole business.

So, I understand there is no contract at the moment and only an intention...
The reason I'm so curious is that public-private partnerships for motorways are tricky in this economy and is hard to trust an investor when the math is not in his favor.
Investment: 1.5 billion
How much do you need to raise from tax/year to cover your costs (investment, maintenance) and get a profit?

I was hoping you found a recipe for success in this region and are willing to share it with us.

Good luck and hope this turns out to be more than a hot air balloon!

In fact the section of A1 wich is situated eastward from Sofia, marked in yellow is actually a completed 2x3 lanes motorway. Only a bridge over a railway hasn't been build yet. A simple rehabilitation of this road and the second bridge section will enable it to became a real motorway.
