Chillo, no need to lie. The Struma motorway section dolna Dykania - dupnica was started last year Autumn. still the progress is remarkable, because they are almsot ready to pave. If the weather stays nice during winter we could see the motorway open a few months earlier. i wish they would work very fast now so the motorway is finished this winter. Anyway, in a few months finally the Struma motorway will be about 40 Kilometers, together with the Ljulin motorway there will be 60 kilometers of motorway in operation direction Greece.

It is remarkable how many kilometers of motorway Boiko Borissov's government has built. I guess over 100 km of motorway where built by his government. so next year Struma mtoroway sectionTrakya motorway and some kilometers of marica motorway section are expeted to be opened I think. Hopefully people will elect him again so he can finish the rest of the motorways and probably start a motorway to kalotina border and to Vidin, I think the country does not even need more motorways than that.

by or during his government? There's a subtile, but important difference, as planning, building and opening motorways generally takes longer than one governmental period.

Indeet, but you can be sure that if the previous government would still be ruling you would not see as many motorway sections opened. the plans mostly allready existed and he jsut started constructing.

Boyko looks like next Zhivkov for me. He even says I hadn't went to big schools because I haven't got money. And almost all ministers are below 40's with some below 35. They're doing the big work. @ChrisZwolle You're right about the projects. They exist since communist era. And offcourse EU is giving the money, although you have to apply for them which is not so easy. The governments before them - they had money but they were stealing and everyone of them were coming with big promises and when something was built - party was like on New Year. I must say I'm waiting all my life for someone to build these things. Corruption is so big and believe me - it's in anybody's head. Just we have to fix ourselves. During Communist Era there were laws, now nobody gives a damn what it says one law.
The motorways left now are
Hemus - 270km - promised to be built by 2017 by this government, and the project is still being revised - maybe to Turnovo-Rousse will be motorway to connect Bucuresti with Thessaloniki.
Struma - last part Blagoevgrad-Sandanski - 67km
Botevgrad - Vidin - expressway, but can be upgraded to motorway.
Sofia - Kalotina, which will be expressway.
Rila motorway -

Maybe you are right guys. During Borisov's government there were many motorway openings ... grand openings with guests from the EU parliament and key EU people and everything. But let's not forget that for example Lulin motorway construction was started during the previous gov. (Not going to comment that its legacy wasn't very good..delays and paper work irregularities ..etc) But there is still a lot of work ... and the overall picture of BG's infrastructure compared to common European one .. is not very good. And I am not going to comment again issues like corruption and huge problems in other areas of Borisov's gov and the state.

svt11, the things that happened the last 3, 4 years will be remembered in Bulgaria. It has been so many years and every Bulgarian talked with humour about Bulgaria and roads and that things are being built very slowly. Now however 100s of kilometers of motorway have been built in a very short period of time and I find it really unbelievable. I hope boiko Borissov will focus on toher things aswell so that in few years Bulgarians can return home if they wish and live there in Bulgaria.

They say hopefully till the end of the year last part will be completed 90%.
And hopefully next year we'll have our first completed motorway.

The section of "Trakia" east of the intersection with "Maritsa" is A4. A1 runs from Sofia to the turkish border via "Maritsa" so the labeling is correct.
