Why is the Struma motorway only 54 percent finished, i thought it is almost finished, looking on the pics only the final bridge is missing, the rest of the motorway is completely paved. How can it be that it is only 54 percent, I think the map has an error, maybe thy ment 94 %.

54 is plausible since there are two section that really lag behind others that look "almost finished". These are:
1. A landslide between Delyan and Dyadovo.
2. The section after Dupnitsa-north junction which won't be used untill lot 2 Dupnitsa - Blagoevgrad is built and logically is low priority now.

The opening date till Dupnitsa-north is still May and it's very sure.

I thought Struma was the name of the whole stretch to the Greek border.

For Radi Struma makes sense only till Blagoevgrad because he never goes southbound After Blagoevgrad starts inferior Struma

no, the struma motorway is never inferior. It will be a good motorway, I aml looking forword to see the modern lookig bridges and over and underpasses, they will make thestruma motorway look brilliant, the Rila mountain, the motorway, which you see from Dolna Dykanyya with all the ohter and underpasses, it will look very picturesqueue, almost like in some sciense fiction movie.

Chirpan-Harmanli highway?

Maritsa A4 highway will not be completed this year, 2014 is probably more appropriate. Some who know the border crossing with Turkey that would be renovation in progress, there are some who have photo and date of completion.

The following tenders concerning Hemus motorway[A2] were anounced:
-technical project
-idea project
-environment impact preparation
-archeological study.

The remaining 265km would be divided and most probably tendered in three sections(lots):
lot 1 60km Yablanitsa-east(current motorway end) - IC(between Lovech and Pleven) on II-35.
lot 2 85km IC on II-35 - IC(north from Veliko Tarnovo) on I-5.
lot 3 111km IC on I-5(north from Veliko Tarnovo) - Panayot Volovo(near Shumen; till the point that is U/C now).

571 km in service and 165 km under construction.
Here you can find a detailed information for every lot under construction and their planned completion dates:

Thanks for the info.

It seems that this year should be opened about 150 km, bringing the motorway network to 721 km.
I'm surprised that the price per km is so cheap - only 2.45 mil. euros.

You're welcome.
Competition drives costs down. It's not uncommon to get 10 companies bidding for a contract and their offers generally are close in terms of price. That being said, from now on I would expect costs to go up a bit since all unfinished highways are going to be build on a more challenging terrain as well as some new tender procedures that put more emphasis on long-term economic impact rather than construction costs.
