oh i just saw it, and yo think that is worthy mentining? That is nothing, the cr drove through, the small car and nothing happened to him, if you think that is a big defect, than I am very sorry for you, if you think for 7 years that is a lot of defect on such a motorway with harsh climate and dust, than you must be living in a world that does not exist on earth. Any other motorwy would have suffered more damage than this tiny thing there.

We will see how the Ljulin will look after 7 years, so for me Chillo this is just provocative and nothing more, jsut admit and be proud the Struma motorway is one of the best motorways in Bulgaria on both lanes.

also i am sure Chillo, that you understood the radio very well in the car on the struma motorway, i have a video of the Ljulin that i will upload, you will lhear that the rcr is louder on the Ljulin than on the Struma, which is probably the quietest motorway in Bulgaria. Do you know how loud the cr was in Croatia? We could not hear the radio even at high volumes, the same in Serbia, so please Chillo, just be proud we have one of the best motorwy stretches in eruope and don't critizise everything Bulgarian and be a bit more patriotic, we can be proud of that peace of motorway even with the 2 meter long defect at the right lane, but in 7 yers 2 m defect, that is not a lot for 20 km of motorway with heavy traffic and very harsh climate.

There should be tenders for a preliminary design as well as environmental study and archaeological reports by the end of 2013. Beyond that, it's anyones guess. Best case, I'd say we can see some construction works starting in 2015-16.

How can you easily go from Plovdiv to Varna after all of these freeways are complete?

Good for you

It should be financed in the next operational period of the EU so lots from 1 to 5(inclusive) or Yablanitsa-east - Veliko Tarnovo should be ready by the end of 2022(worst case scenario). EU is reluctant to finance lot 6,7&8 so I highly doubt any job would be done though there are promises for a state loan fo this sections.

We have calculated that the earliest possible completion date is after 2018.

The 11.8% international transit traffic from Turkey to Oryahovo surprises me. That is quite an unfortunate route with lack of decent roads through the mountains and a ferry across the Danube.

Of course, percentages don't tell everything. Actual traffic figures would put it more into perspective I suppose.

I wonder if most of that traffic is going to reroute through Vidin once the bridge gets opened. My guess is that most of it ends up going west avoiding the border control checks in Serbia.

I doubt it. In terms of shortest path, Serbia is the 1st choice. Еspecially if your direction is Italy-France-Spain.

If your direction is Germany-UK-Northern Europe the better choice is Vidin...
we'll see..

Anyway can't wait for the bridge to finally open

My doubt is... why aren't there plans for a Ruse - Svilengrad motorway? If it is the corridor for the second most important route for international traffic...

Since there is no EU financing for Ruse-Svilengrad, last year it was announced as a PPP with Qatar and also the Turkish government was invited to join in, but Turkey has shown interested in a different route and later has withdrawn from the talks.
In October 2012, a tender for a feasibility study was announced. You can find more info in this article \in Bulgarian\:
http://stroitelstvo.info/show.php?storyid=1930041

Since then, there are no other news about this project,

Tenders have been hold, contractor (Glavbolgarstroy) has been chosen, contract is signed and contract time is already running. Not seeing actual physical work on the LOT doesn't mean it isn't officially under construction. Probably physical work on it will be seen around June.
