The contract for Northern Sofia Bypass (aka Northern Speed Tangent) will be signed on 17 February. The bypass is ~16.5 km long and will supersede the existing Northern Arc of Sofia Ring Road.

Will there remain at-grade intersections?

Seems like a 2x3 expressway according to BG Wikipedia.

No. It will be grade-separated. 5 interchanges are included (+ [email protected] arc of the ring road, which is part of another tender). The design speed is 120 km/h. The lanes are 2x(3 traffic + 1 emergency).

You can look also at wikimapia, the bypass is drawn there:

The contract is for design and build, so works are expected after the technical project is ready. The term is 18 months, but I don't how it counts exactly.

October 2015 is quite ambitious if the whole thing have to be designed first. Of course some design work can be done parallel to construction works.

Yes, it is helpful . But Feburary 2014 is not correct because it includes the design phase .

No, its not a mistake. Thats temporary roundabout. It willl be used during the construction of the new three level intersection at the same place.

Okay, you are both right. The 18months start when a building permit is issued and a building permit is issued after design is approved. So:
A1: Sofia northern speedy tangent 12 16.54km (? - ?) - map - project

It's a temporary roundabout during the construction of the interchange which will feature a roundabout as well:

That's the most up-to-date look of it. The pic is taken today by Senna1

It took the companies ~2 months to start work on first sections of the western bypass of Sofia and ~1 year to obtain permits for all and ~1 month to start work on first sections of A3 Dupnitsa - Blagoevgrad and ~6 months to obtain permits for (apparently) all sections.
However, since it's financed by the EU, the construction deadline cannot go beyond June 2016.

@MichiH, you can set the deadline of A4: Dimitrovgrad - Harmanli from 2nd half 2014 to the more specific November 2014 according to this article(in bg):
Quote:
... Agency "Road Infrastructure" accepted the claim of the contractor of Lot 2 of the highway " Maritza " Once extension , it became clear from the words of Stephen Chaikov . This time the completion of the section is postponed to mid-November , after the former plan was to complete in February. The road between Dimitrovgrad and Harmanly is implemented by Association " Maritsa Highway " ( "PST Holding " and " Porr Bau " ) who requested an extension because of the boost in displacement of pipeline junction in Dimitrovgrad . Extension has been signed by the managing authority of the program " Transport", which finances highway. The first section Rice - Dimitrovgrad also track, as negotiations for changes in construction schedules admitted Chaikov .

That would basically mean that the entire motorway will be completed around 2015? Or the segment between Chirpan - Dimitrovgrad is ahead?
