A7(?) Kalotina motorway

The 31 km section between Kalotina and Herakovo has been retendered. This time it's divided into 2 sublots, Kalotina-Dragoman and Dragoman-Herakovo. The costs are estimated at 200 million levs (102.26 million euro)

Remains as is - plain-old 2x2. It seems that the new sections would also be substandard motorways.

Hello Bulgaria!

Can someone explain why is A6 separately numbered?
For me it seems that A6 and A3 are the same motorway - Sofija-Solun

Any news for A3, Lot2 and specially for Lot4?
I remember that Lot4 was supposed to be delivered this summer (July). Am I correct?
Do we know something about it?
Thanks.

As I always do on this excelent before taking a longer drive... I'll be driving in about 3 weeks from Ruse to Kulata, I've taken two years ago the Russe - Byala - Plevnen - Sofia south ring - Dupnita - Kulata and it seemed ok, any new bottle-necks i whould know about? I know there's no significant progress on the road except some works on the Sofia south ring but other than that.... any advice?
Thanks!

Lot 4 of A3 Struma motorway is still u/c, so you have to take a detour via Petrich.

Lot 1 of A3 (Dolna Dikanya - Dupnitsa) and a section of A2 Hemus motorway b/n Sofia ring road and Yana interchange opened to traffic an year ago, so you'll get another 22 km of motorway. There is no works at the south arc of the ring road.

Drive safely.

Drive safely.
If he has driven through Bulgaria before 13.06.2012, he has a new section of 2x3+2x2 here.

Road works:
Bebresh viaduct is under rehabilitation here. Traffic is moved into one of the carriageways.
Eleshnitsa viaduct is under rehabilitation here. Traffic is moved into one of the carriageways.
There is a landslide here so the northern carriageway is reduced to 2 lanes.

If you use Lyulin motorway[A6]:
Right lanes both directions of this tunnel are closed.
Left lane direction GR of this tunnel is closed.

Danube Bridge 2 Serviced Half Million Vehicles in One Year

Nearly half a million vehicles have run along Danube Bridge 2 connecting Bulgaria's north-western city of Vidin to Romania's Calafat since its launch on June 14, 2013.

The heaviest traffic is recorded in July, August and September, Vladimir Andreev, CEO of the company operating the facility, told Bulgarian Telegraph Agency.

"Since its establishment a year ago, the joint Bulgarian-Romanian company Danube Bridge Vidin - Calafat has been operating successfully," Andreev said.

According to him, the facility can see a significant increase in traffic, however the infrastructure needs to be improved, namely the roads connecting Bulgaria's towns of Montana and Vidin.

On average, some 1200-1300 cars per day, and 42,000 vehicles monthly pass along Danube Bridge 2. According to the Romanian forecasts, a total of 8,400 vehicles and 30 trains daily can run along the bridge by 2030, Andreev explained.

European funding has been allocated for the rehabilitation of the section of the railway line Calafat - Craiova and the repair of the roads in the area, Dnevnik reports. Therefore, both the Bulgarian and the Romanian side hope that all the traffic from Western Europe to Sofia and Greece will pass along Danube Bridge 2.

Apart from the Romanian railcars, soon Bulgarian ones will run across the bridge, as well. So far the Vidin – Craiova line has been serviced by a Romanian trains only.
