Bulgaria May Undo Struma Motorway Contract with Greek Co

No equipment is currently on the site, no construction activities are underway, and the motorway section is still at the stage of earthworks.
According to RIA, the launch of the motorway section will be delayed by at least two months.

If they are still in earthworks phase, the delay is probably more than two months.

I guess "Early 2015" would be a reasonable prediction.

At least they have some bridgeworks done. You can pave it rather quickly if the bridges are finished.

We should stop awarding contracts to companies from banana countries. We had huge issues on A1 with a Portuguese firm. They win the tender with very low bids and then start asking for more later on.

Legally speaking, it is very difficult to not award a project to the lowest bidder, especially if the criteria 'price' counts for 90% or more.

You saw this often in Poland, with absurdly low bids and then later on asking for a better compensation. Some road authorities may fall for this, but Poland didn't. It appears Bulgaria is losing patience as well.
