The end of the video shows the interchange u/c on the eastern section of the SNST which is already in service. I'm surprised that there are no cars driving on the road!?

With no connecting roads to the interchanges and still a gap in the middle of SNST, there is no surprise, as it serves only the traffic b/n the east arc of ring road and Lazar Mihaylov Blvd. When they complete the section in the middle, the SNST will serve the transit traffic. However, the construction of the connecting roads is a responsibility of the Sofia municipality and IMO it will take years to build all of them.

Yes, I know but I was surprised that no car at all drove there. Not even one car. Well, it was filmed on Saturday... A different video filmed just after the road was opened showed some cars but I guess there were some "interested" people driving there.

I drove my car in the city yesterday and experienced a lot of traffic jams. With the construction of 3rd line of Sofia metro, we got many intersections closed or with a decreased capacity.

Plovdiv-Asenovgrad road is going be upgraded. The design is close to a motorway standard, featuring dual carriageway, 2 active lanes in direction + hard shoulder. However, the intersetions will be kept at-grade.

Bulgaria launches 102 mln euro electronic toll collection system tender

SOFIA (Bulgaria), April 6 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's road infrastructure agency (API) launched on Wednesday a tender for the development and implementation of an electronic toll collection system with an indicative price of 200 million levs ($116 million/102.3 million euro).

The toll tax will cover 16,317 km of roads and will be based on distance travelled for vehicles heavier than 3.5 tonnes, while for lighter vehicles it will be calculated on a time basis, API said in a statement.

Interested bidders should submit their offers by May 30.

The period for implementation of the project is 19 months.

I hope that they implement a system that is immediately compatible with other electronic tolling systems. Right now there are 11 countries that have a fully electronic tolling system for trucks and a number of other countries which offer electronic systems for conventional toll roads, resulting in a large number of transponders. Interoperability still leaves a lot to be desired.

The goal of EETS, to be implemented by 2007, 2010, 2014, 2016, etc...

EETS will allow any road user to pay easily the tolls incurred on any road or (infra)structure in the Union by means of a single subscription contract with an EETS Provider and a single item of on-board equipment.

We're really far from that point now. Especially for passenger cars almost no electronic tolling system is interoperable.

The Norwegian AutoPASS transponder looks exactly the same as my French Liber-T transponder, yet I cannot use them in the other country.

I've read the main points of the documentation and the system aims to be state of the art. One of the methods of payment will be by an EETS device and fully compatible with other EU systems in compliance with Directive 2004/52/ЕС.

On paper, it looks okay.

Bulgaria Toll tender

Hello,

Can you indicate which documentation you are referring to? There was an article that the tender has been announced but could not find anything related. Any info would help.

Thank you for your reply.
I would assume that the English version is not out. Correct?

According to the BG legislation no obligation to translate the documentation in English or in any other language exists, so I doubt that an English version will ever come out.

The report of the WB, on which the tender is based, is however in English. Here's the link.

Thank you. The area of interest is Tolling Systems. Interested to understand what the project is about. Is it a Concession for e.g.

Any documents that you can provide would be helpful. Thanks for initiating this.
