Nobody knows exactly. Itīs financed by the budget, after they failed to get the allocated EU funds for the project. My guess is that 1.5-2 years can be sufficient to complete it.

A3 motorway. New minister, new ideas. The tender for Zheleznitsa tunnel will be relaunched, but this time it will be split in 3 positions: one for the tunnel, and 2 for the access roads.

And some pics of lot 3.3, tnx to Lachko

Does that only include the second part of the bypass until the connector road at Stomanetsite or all the way to Shipka?

OSM Shows the later only as plan... but its the worse topography, so it would have a much bigger impact to get rid of the curvy road there.

The Shipka tunnel is not part of the current works.

The eastern part of the ring needs to be urgently resurfaced, hopefully it starts soon this summer. The northern section (still pending nodes there) and the western section are completed. It is hard to say anything about the southern part (inner to the city) or what remains of it. Generally the way highways are built in Bulgaria for me personally is a total waste of time. A new approach is necessary to keep the things really going at a good pace.

what section are you referring to? All the sections of international importance are already completed

So now, going from A1 or A2 motorways (Romania, Turkey or Eastern Bulgaria), the solution to bypass Sofia towards Greece for example is trough the north section?
All the sections are 2x2 on this route?

Yes Sofia is bypassed from the north, irrespective of the direction of travel. Most of the ring is 2x3.

Is there any update for Kalotina-Dragoman-Sofia (A7) motorway?

According the minister of Transport it's planned to complete the entire section by 2022

API plans to announce 2 design and build tenders in the end of June or in the beginning of July. The stretches cover Kalotina-Dragoman (14.5 km) and Dragoman-Hrabarsko (17 km).

Absolutely. If you will take the "shorter" south route, you may end up wasting half an hour (or more) from the exit to Lozen to Mladost 4.
